FFXIV player has completed a feat few have ever accomplished

Can you imagine completing EVERY side quest?

There are few people who complete every side quest in single player games, let alone MMOs, but that’s exactly what one intrepid Final Fantasy XIV player has managed in an incredible gaming feat. Reddit user u/ah0xg0 posted news of their accomplishments on Sunday, February 27, stating that with the completion of Fisher job quest Feast of Famine they had completed every single side quest in FFXIV.

While they might not be the first player to achieve this (several in the Reddit thread alluded to having achieved similar), it’s certainly an incredible achievement. It’s hard to fully lock down how many sidequests there are in Final Fantasy XIV. Depending on your source, the number of quests varies.

For example, Gamerescape lists the amount at around 1793 side quests, plus 27 “story” side quests, around 100 tribal quests, 165 Chronicles of a New Era quests, a few hundred class and job quests, and numerous event quests. This puts the number at a conservative estimate of 2300+ quests.

The official Eorzea Database site puts the number at closer to 3492 side quests (4380 entries in the current database, minus 888 main story missions). It doesn’t help that it’s not specified what parameters of the player’s “all side quests” completion aren’t given, but regardless, it’s no doubt literally thousands of quests.

What’s perhaps most interesting was the insight ah0xg0 was able to give into some of their journey. When asked what the most surprising rewards were, they detailed receiving minions, titles, even emotes as a surprising reward. But the most valuable? Perhaps Thavnairian Onion. Available from just two side quests, this rare item can be used to train to increase their rank beyond 10. They sell for several million gil on the Market Board.

Still, ah0xg0’s quest journey isn’t over by a long shot. Each new patch adds dozens of quests and even with all side quests done, there’s PvP, raiding, fishing logs, collectables, and more to gather in Final Fantasy XIV. It genuinely does feel like the journey has only just begun!
