What are safehouses in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – Definitive Edition?

Where can I park my nice '80s car?

Players who are used to Grand Theft Auto V and Online will be used to owning houses and real estate in-game. Whether it be Michael's house in Rockford Hills or a Downtown Los Santos apartment you buy in GTA Online, you will be familiar with the concept. However, it used to be a bit different.

In GTA: Vice City, the houses where you can save and keep your cars are called Safehouses, which refers to having somewhere to hide away from the authorities or rival gangs. However, they don't necessarily function the same as in more recent games.

In Vice City, not all safehouses can be entered, and a lot just serve as place markers for your save points. They usually also come with a garage to store your favorite cars. Apart from some of the bigger properties acquired through missions, most are just facades that you can't go inside.

You will begin to purchase houses and apartments after a couple of hours of gameplay. Once bought, you can look out for these on your main or minimap by searching for the Cassette Tape icon. It's crazy to think that it was a huge deal to be able to go inside some of them at the time of its original release!
