Halo Infinite is an arena FPS that features a vast arsenal of weapons for the player to use. These are a combination of long-range, mid-range, and short-range. Despite this, nothing is more satisfying than up close and personal and meleeing your opponent—especially in the back.
Meleeing an enemy in the back is an instant kill regardless of their armor. The player has to sneak up behind them and press the melee button to perform a Back Smack. In previous Halo games, players could perform an assassination, a longer flourish move that instantly killed their opponent from the back.
Halo Infinite does not feature assassinations at launch. This feature has been turned off while 343 Industries reworks it to fit into Halo Infinite's gameplay loop better. While this is unfortunate as some players love the animations and messages sent by assassinations, 343 Industries does intend to return assassinations.
In the meantime, players can still Back Smack their opponents and get the instakill. It might be tricky if an opponent is paying attention to their radar, but it is well worth the risk, especially for the satisfaction.
