What is Attrition in Halo Infinite?

A more team-based game mode.

Halo Infinite is a game known for its tried and true game modes. However, a new game mode has been introduced into the game. The brand new game mode is called Attrition, and it is an interesting addition. Let's take a look at what Attrition is in Halo Infinite, and how to play it.

Attrition is a best-of-three, round-based elimination type game mode, in which teams will face off against each other. Each team will have a set number of lives for each round. The goal is to eliminate enemies until their lives have run out. Once their lives run out, players will not naturally respawn but will have to be revived by their teammates. When all of a team's lives are gone, as well as all of their players slain, the round will end the team with players left standing will be the winners.

Each team will start the round with eight lives. These are shared lives, meaning that as soon as your team has died eight times, the lives are gone, even if you personally have never died. Once the lives are gone, when a player is killed, they will turn into an orb. The player can be revived at this orb by one of their teammates in order to continue the fight. However, it should be noted that players can not move while reviving teammates, so it is a risk to go for a revive with enemies around.

Lastly, when both teams no longer have any lives to spare, the game will initiate a Danger Zone. This works similarly to a circle in a Battle Royale game, where it shrinks in size over time. Players caught inside the Danger Zone will be continuously damaged over time. The circle will continue shrinking until one team comes out of the round Victorius. Once a team wins two rounds, the game will be finished.

My name is Mason Moses. I am an entertainment aficionado, who spends more time consuming it than I would like to admit. I've been playing video games for the past 15 years and every time I turn one on, it feels like the very first time. Since I liked games so much, I decided that I would write about them.
