Pure Fiction is a Honkai: Star Rail game mode that involves deploying a party to defeat multiple waves of enemies. You need to build a powerful and curated party to get the maximum possible score, so refer to our tier list below for the best Pure Fiction characters based on our tests.
Do keep in mind that you can still play Pure Fiction with characters of a lower tier, but you will have a harder time defeating enemies. Likewise, you need to make sure to gear up high-tier characters for them to perform well.

Best Pure Fiction DPS characters in Honkai Star Rail
For the Pure Fiction game mode, you can accumulate points that count toward your score by defeating as many waves of enemies as possible across two Nodes. Characters who can deal AoE DMG particularly shine in Pure Fiction.
- Argenti - His kit is filled with AoE attacks, which are designed specifically for the Pure Fiction game mode. He also boasts a low-cost Ultimate, which makes it easier to trigger Cacophony bonuses aligned with Ultimate use.
- Himeko - While Himeko isn't a sought-after unit in other game modes, she shines in Pure Fiction due to her AoE Ultimate, Talent follow-up attack, and her ability to apply DoT through Burn.
- Kafka - Her Ultimate is low-cost and does a good amount of AoE DMG, and she can deal DoT through her Lightning DMG. She was my personal favorite unit to use!
- Herta - The kuru kuru queen is great for Pure Fiction as she does a lot of AoE DMG, though she requires a little more investment in gear compared to five-star alternatives. She makes up for it by dealing additional follow-up attacks to enemies with 50% or lower HP.

Best Pure Fiction support characters in Honkai Star Rail
Supports rankings don't weigh as much as DPS ranking as you should pick supports that synergize well with your DPS unit(s). However, I strongly recommend bringing either of these two universal support characters to Pure Fiction if you own them:
- Ruan Mei - She's an amazing support who offers a roster of team-wide buffs helpful for increasing the entire team's SPD, DMG output, Weakness Break efficiency, and more.
- Bronya - She's an OG support who performs well in all game modes, including Pure Fiction. Bronya can increase the team's ATK and CRIT and further offers an Advanced Forward boost so that DPS units can keep stacking attacks.
- Luocha - If you have the current best healer in Honkai: Star Rail, why wouldn't you use him? Luocha carried our team(s) as its one, consistent healer.
