How to complete “The Daunt” Hunting Grounds in Horizon Forbidden West?

Crowd control is the way to go for these Trials.

Hunting Grounds test Aloy's skills with three different Trials. The earliest Trial that players can encounter is the one at The Daunt. Each Trial is timed, and to get the maximum amount of rewards, players will have to complete each of them under the required time. The Daunt includes a Tear, Shock, and Shock and Trap Trial. These can seem difficult at first glance, but there are some easy ways to get them all done quickly.

Tear Trial

The first Trial of The Daunt Hunting Trials is the Tear Trial. This has Aloy shooting out the Power Cells of Scroungers and then looting them. Aloy's Tear Damage isn't too high at the beginning of the game, but a fully charged arrow or two will still be enough to knock off the Power Cell. If players are having trouble knocking it off, they can use Coils to increase their Tear Damage.

Aloy can select the specific part of a machine she's hunting and highlight it when scanning. You can do this by scanning a machine and pressing left or right on the D-Pad to find the desired part, then pressing Triangle to Tag that part. Power Cells on Scroungers can be found on the machine's backside, and if players are having trouble keeping aiming for it, they stagger it instead. A Charged Heavy Attack will stun it temporarily, and both the Ropecaster and Shock Status will do the same after a few shots to incapacitate the Scrounger for easy shots.

Shock Trial

The second part of The Daunt Hunting Grounds is the Shock Trial. This Trial requires Aloy to overload the Power Cell of Scroungers to Shock machines nearby. This can be tricky as many machines will tend to back up or even run away but other Scroungers that are attacking Aloy can be easy to catch. Using Scan can still prove to be useful for players looking for the Power Cell. The Shock Warrior Bow is the earliest Shock inducing weapon that players can get their hands on and is sold in Barren Light.

Trapping enemies with either the Ropecaster or the Tripcaster will make sure Machines sit still long enough to use Shock Arrows on the Scrounger's Power Cell. Trapping one and then entering Concentration Mode to fire a Shock Arrow at a Scrounger's Power Cell. After a few seconds, the Power Cell will explode, damaging Machines in a small radius for the Trial.

Shock And Trap Trial

For the final challenge, the Shock And Trap Trial, players have to use the traps in the area to take out Machines while they are Shocked. The easiest way of completing this Trial is using a combination of the Tripcaster and the Scrounger's Power Cell explosion from hitting it with Shock Arrows. The trap with the rolling logs is the best trap to take out multiple Machines at once. Using the Ropecaster on a Scrounger and then using Shock Arrows to Shock multiple Machines before using the trap is the fastest way of completing this Trial.
