Top Anno Games, Ranked

7. Anno 2205

Anno 2205 is the success story of Anno 2070's world problems. Moving on from colonization, you now get to manage corporate life after finally overcoming the effects of global warming. Although Anno 2205 is refreshing with its modern touches, it's still too simple in features, as it still lacks the classic Anno experience.

6. Anno 1503

Anno 1503 is the second installment in the Anno series. This one is set about 100 years earlier than the first Anno game ever made. Anno 1503 starts off with you embarking on a journey to find the best place to set up shop and establish your civilization. Ships are a big focus of the game since its only expansion is named Treasures, Monsters, and Pirates.

5. Anno 1602

Anno 1602 is the first game in the series, which sets the bar for the next games to come. It's the game that started everything. The main focus of the game is its campaign, which pits you against everyone so that you can prosper while still managing to defend yourself from all the incoming threats. The New Islands, New Adventures expansion adds a lot more content to the original game.

4. Anno 1701

Anno 1701 is the third game in the series. It's a refinement of the previous two games and brings a lot to the table. Not only are the graphics better, but it also adds much-needed focus on trade and prosperity. You remain a colony until you either have enough to buy freedom or the power to fight the colonizers off. There are a lot of naturally occurring disasters that you'd have to counter as well.

3. Anno 2070

If you're a fan of futuristic gameplay, then you are surely going to like Anno 2070. Its main focus is that it is set in an era where the world is facing turmoil due to global warming and pollution. Your goal is to survive through these tough times by any means possible. This includes the utilization of green energy.

2. Anno 1404

Anno 1404 is the fourth one in the series. Released in 1404, this game takes us farther back to the Renaissance era. Set in the earliest timeline the series has ever taken, it gives us unique housing, a civilization class system, and different cultural zones. Not to mention, the graphics are a considerable upgrade from the last installment.

1. Anno 1800

Fans would agree that Anno 1800 is the best Anno game of all. Released in 2019, it's the latest installment in the series. It brings back many of the nostalgic features and aesthetics from the classic game. Set in the industrial era, it brings plenty of new and useful features, such as the blueprint mode, which lets you map out buildings before actually having to buy them.

In the end, the decision is yours as to what game you prefer and play. Some players cherish the classic Anno experience, while some players like the refreshing experience of the modern-era themed Anno games.
