Is MultiVersus Free to Play?

It's finally been confirmed.

Player First games and Warner Bros. Games have teamed up to launch their own platform fighter, MultiVersus. This competitive battler differentiated itself from the Super Smash Bros. series by focusing on 2v2 battles. Those interested in this title may be wondering how much it costs or if it is free to play.

It features both crossplay and cross-progression and a roster of iconic characters like Batman, Steven Universe, Tom & Jerry, and more. Each character has unique animations and voice lines, bringing them to life like never before.

Why does MultiVersus cost money? – Why isn't MultiVersus free?

As MultiVersus launches in open beta, many players may be confused by various price tags for the game as it was announced to be free. These price tags represent the various Founder's Packs for MultiVersus, which are not required to play the game. Once the game fully launches in open beta, all players will be able to join.

Are the MultiVersus Founder's Packs worth it?

We do not think the MultiVersus Founder's Packs are worth it. These come in three tiers, starting at $39.99 and ending at $99.99. For the content that is included, the packs are overpriced and do not compare to Founder's Packs that other titles offer, so we recommend not purchasing them.

If you purchase a Founder's Pack, you will receive early access to the beta, cosmetics, character tokens, premium currency, and other items. We recommend simply waiting for the official open beta to start and see how you like the game before purchasing one of these packs.
