How to get Nightcrawler Bait in New World

Discover the best way to find this creepy-crawly bait type in New World

Nightcrawlers Bait is one of the best early-game baits in New World. It allows you to catch better fish in Saltwater fishing areas. But it can be a little confusing to find as it’s not always available to be harvested!

If you want to find Nightcrawlers, head into the hills and forests. You’re looking for Flint. As you pick up Flint from the ground, you’ll find some bait. However, you can only find nightcrawler bait during the day (when Nightcrawlers are hiding away).

If you gather Flint during the day, it’ll drop Glowworm bait instead. Both baits are slightly uncommon drops, so you’ll have to spend a bit of time gathering flint to get them. Alternatively, you can head to the trading post and place an order for some. There are always players looking to off-load their unwanted items.

Then once you’ve gathered your Nightcrawlers (or Glowworms, for that matter), it’s time to head to some Saltwater! Press the R Button (as default) to equip your bait, and click on the Nightcrawler bait.

If you’re not 100% sure whether the fishing location you’re at is Saltwater or Freshwater, just jump on in. After you’ve waded deep enough, you’ll see a prompt to collect either Saltwater or Freshwater. Both are also useful crafting items. Good luck fishing!

With fishing, crafting, and more, it can be easy to lose sight of the ultimate goal in New World. Check out What is the Max Level in New World? on PGG.
