Are Mega Evolutions coming to Pokémon Legends Arceus DLC?

According to a well-known leaker (@Riddler_Khu on Twitter), Pokémon Legends: Arceus could be in store for DLC very soon. While the accuracy of this leak cannot be verified by ProGameGuides, the leaker is known for their information on the Pokémon franchise, most recently revealing details about Pokémon Legends: Arceus' crafting mechanics before the game's release.

Nintendo could have many exciting things in store for a Pokémon Legends: DLC, like a return of previous mechanics like Mega Evolutions or new Mega Evolutions entirely. While there wasn't much information, the reliability of this leaker caught the eye of many fans and makes these claims all the more likely.

What could be in a Pokémon Legends: Arceus DLC?

The tweet, posted on Riddler_Khu's private Twitter page, contained an image of two characters introduced in previous Pokémon titles. Looker and Palmer, characters originally from the Sinnoh region's debut in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, were shown standing beside each other in a cropped image.

Palmer and Looker's inclusion could hint at several possible additions in a DLC. Palmer plays a prominent role in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl as the leader of the Battle Tower. Could some sort of Battle Tower be coming to Pokémon Legends: Arceus? Looker is a mysterious figure that has been featured in multiple Pokémon games and fans have come up with some wild theories regarding the character. These could also simply be hints to the DLC's content, as Nintendo themselves have pointed out the similarity in many of the characters of the Hisui region and future Pokémon characters, revealing a shared lineage between the characters.

Nintendo may also take the opportunity to add mechanics from prior Pokémon games like Mega Evolution, possibly debuting entirely new Mega Evolutions in the Hisui Region.

When could the DLC arrive?

According to Riddler_Khu's tweet, the DLC could arrive as early as April, just a few months after Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The game was met with huge success, so Nintendo may be trying to capitalize on the fan engagement this close to release. While we don't have any verified information on the potential Pokémon Legends: Arceus DLC, Nintendo would likely make an official announcement soon if the DLC was planned for an April release.
