Massive Mass Outbreaks in Pokémon Legends: Arceus increase the chances of finding shiny Pokémon in the wild. Due to temporary bouts of astronomic spawning rates as rainstorms thunder across Hisui, you'll be able to target the Pokémon you want better than ever. To find shiny Pokémon as quickly as possible during these outbreaks:
- Wait for Massive Mass Outbreaks to spawn randomly.
- Turn off the autosave feature to control exactly what you save.
- Feed Munchlax five Aguav Berries to reveal on the map which Pokémon are spawning—and know the multiple ways to farm Aguav Berries
- If you see no Pokémon you want, return to Jubilife Village and leave again. The outbreaks will still be there but shuffled.
- Manually save when you see a Pokémon you want, especially if its thumbnail on the map includes a shining star. Shining stars mean increased chances of Shiny, Alpha, or evolved encounters.

This save backup will ensure that a specific shiny Pokémon will always occur where you happened to find it. Note that it's effective to simply fly low over as many outbreaks as you can without feeding Munchlax, searching for the sparkles that appear when shiny Pokémon spawn. If you see one but it flees or you accidentally knock it out, reset the game and try again.
Fast and easy shiny encounters will also involve doing whatever you can to raise the odds, which begin extremely low at one in 4,096. Halve that to one in 2,048 by reaching research level 10 for the Pokémon you want. If you want to go even further, obtain the Shiny Charm from Professor Laventon by accomplishing research level 10 for all 242 Pokémon.
Equipping the Shiny Charm will lower your odds to a heartening one in 819, but you can get it to one in 585 if you're serious—just complete every research task for every Pokémon. No big deal.
