Strongest Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Unsure of who should be a permanent part of your team?

With 242 Pokémon in Legends: Arceus, it can be difficult to figure out who you should keep in your main team. This guide can help you choose which Pokémon are worth growing. Below are some of the strongest Pokémon in the game.

Scizor

Scyther gets a new Hisuian evolutionary line in Kleavor, but if you’re looking at a strong bug type, the answer is still Scizor simply because of typing. Its secondary Steel typing provides Scizor with a ton of resistances: Normal, Ice, Psychic, Bug, Dragon, Steel, and Fairy. It’s even double resistant against Grass and immune to Poison. Scizor has very high Attack, too. You can evolve your Scyther into Scizor by using a Metal Coat.

Magnezone

Due to the electromotive field in the area, Coronet Highlands attracts a lot of Magnetons, who naturally evolve into Magnezones. You’ll find a bunch of them flying near Mount Coronet. Magnezone is the best Electric type in Legends because of its high Sp. Attack and general bulk. Moreover, with its Steel typing and Flash Cannon in its movepool, it's one of the best Steel types too. It’s just very weak to Ground moves but since Earthquake doesn’t exist in the game, you’re safe.

Sneasler

We’ll admit: Sneasler’s design isn’t the best but its stats more certainly are. After all, its Attack and Speed are near unmatched. There’s even an endgame character who owns a Sneasler and it can get as many as four turns in a row. With hard-hitting moves like Close Combat and Poison Jab, it’s one of the scariest Pokémon in the game. If you capture a Hisuian Sneasel, it will evolve into Sneasler with a Razor Claw.

Ursaluna

Ursaluna may be slow but it’s so bulky that it’s hard to beat. Plus, its base Attack is higher than Sneasler to the point of worrisome… but only if you’re up against it! Ursaluna is the Hisuian exclusive evolution line to Ursaring. You can evolve yours with a Peat Block.

Hisuian Zoroark

Even in a game without abilities, Zoroark is still a pretty good Pokémon to have, including its Normal/Ghost Hisuian variant. This is largely due to its typing and high Speed. It only has one weakness (Dark) and is immune to three move types: Normal, Fighting, and Ghost. Hisuian Zoroark is also resistant to Poison and Bug. Hisuian Zorua naturally evolves into Zoroark at level 30.

Hisuian Goodra

It cannot be emphasized how good Hisuian Goodra’s typing is. As a Dragon/Steel, it’s resistant to nine types (Normal, Water, Electric, Flying, Bug, Rock, Psychic, Grass, and Steel) and is immune to Poison. Goodra also has one of the highest Sp. Defense in Pokémon, and its Defense is above average. You won’t find a better tank. Hisuian Goodra evolves from Sliggoo at level 50 during the rain.

Gliscor

No Gen four Pokémon list is valid without mentioning Gliscor. It's part of the competitive meta even, with a high base Defense and great typing (Ground/Flying). Gliscor is weak to Water and Ice. However, it can learn Thunder and Fire Fang from Zisu, the move tutor in Jubilife Village, which provides it coverage. If it moves first before any of those two Pokémon types can reach it, it's near-invincible.

Darkrai

The mythical Pokémon Darkrai is not only one of the coolest-looking Pokémon ever, but one that boasts high Sp. Attack too. Its so high that Shadow Ball outperforms Dark Pulse, even though the latter receives the same type attack bonus (STAB) from Darkrai being a Dark type. Its Defense is pretty low, but with Snarl a part of his movepool he can take hits. You can capture Darkrai during request #93.

Giratina

Giratina is one of the most versatile legendaries, not just in gen four, but in the entirety of the Pokémon franchise. All its stats are high for one thing, allowing you to build it both as a special and physical attacker. Its move pool is also huge. We’re big fans of Shadow Force, which is not only a high-power move but also obscures Giratina and raises its evasiveness.

You can get Giratina post-credits during request #91. It’s automatically unlocked after you finish Cogita’s legendary hunt request.

Arceus

Of course, this list isn’t complete without talking about Arceus, the god of Pokémon. You can battle him after you’ve completed your Pokédex. If you win, he’ll be impressed enough to travel with you. Using the 19 Plates in your possession, you can change Arceus’ type into any of the ones available in the game. With Judgment Ray, it’s absolutely broken in battle.

However, while the above Pokémon are amazing creatures to keep, remember that it’s never wrong to play with the Pokémon you like. We even prefer a couple of our Pokémon unevolved ourselves!
