When your framerate resembles a PowerPoint presentation, and textures drop in quality, you know it's time for some troubleshooting. Performance issues break the immersion of your gaming experience and can be quite frustrating if you don't know how to fix them. Thankfully, we're here to help you solve your lag issues and get back to shiny hunting. Here's how to fix performance issues and lag in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
How to make Pokémon Scarlet & Violet stop lagging
The best way to stop Pokémon Scarlet and Violet from lagging is to restart the game every so often. Several players discovered that the longer they played Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in one stretch, the worse their performance issues got. To remedy this problem, simply close out of the game and start the software again every few hours, and your lag issues should be fixed.
As this is an issue with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and not the Switch itself, there is no need to restart your entire console. There should not be any technical issues with your hardware, since the source of the problem lies in the game. To quit the game, push the home button to return to your console's main menu, then press X to close the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet software. Make sure to save with R before quitting to avoid the loss of progress. If your performance issues and lag return after a while, restart the game once more and the problem should be fixed.
