Did you catch them all?

While Pokémon Sun and Moon (along with the Alola region) is the face of the seventh generation of Pokémon games, this era is spanned more titles than that. In particular, Gen 7 (2016 to 2018) featured three games in its lifetime: Sun and Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and, finally, Let's Go, Pikachu and Eevee. The latter is an updated remake of Pokémon Yellow with a mixed element from the mobile game Pokémon GO. If you want to discover every starter in this era, this is your guide.

The starters for Gen 7 might not be the most iconic among all characters in the franchise (that honor belongs to Gen 1 starters), but they are popular in their own right—particularly because of their simpler but fitting designs. Here’s a quick look at all the Pokémon starters in Sun and Moon.

Rowlet is a Grass/Flying-type Pokémon that looks like a plain owl with a bow tie made of leaves. It evolves into Dartrix upon reaching level 17 and then into the Grass/Ghost-type Decidueye, starting at level 34. With its awesome Ghost-type and signature arrow shot, Decidueye arguably has the coolest final evolution design of the group as well (never mind that it isn't the most powerful).

If you're a big fan of Gen 3's Blakizen, then you will want Litten and its evo-line in your party. Yes, Incineroar stands on two feet.

Popplio is a Water-type Pokémon resembling a happy seal. It evolves first into the water-type Pop Star Pokémon Brionne at level 17, then into the Water/Fairy-type Primarina starting at level 34. Primarina arguably has the best dual type in the list, with little-to-no resistances and access to Fairy-type moves, which are a destructive force of their own.
