Pokémon GO Starly Community Day – Should you buy the Field Notes?

Niantic has announced July's Community Day in Pokémon GO, with the featured Pokémon Starly. This Community Day has received criticism, as it comes on the heels of June's pseudo-legendary Community Day for Deino. As with most Community Days, players have the ability to purchase extra content for $1.00 USD, or their local equivalent.

What is included in Field Notes - Starly in Pokémon GO?

July's Community Day features Starly, and the Field Notes will include exclusive Special Research for players to complete on the Community Day. Past that, there is not much else. Players won't get access to special moves or Pokémon, or even an increased chance of encountering a shiny Pokémon. This has become the standard for Special Research on Community Days and doesn't appear likely to change.

Should you buy the Field Notes?

The decision of whether or not to purchase the Field Notes comes down to the player's preference and motivations in playing the Community Day. Players have the ability to purchase a ticket for themselves or a friend with the new gifting feature for Special Research and event tickets. It is our opinion that the Field Notes for July's Starly Community Day are not worth the extra fee. Players can experience the vast majority of perks in the Community Day celebration for free, so players don't need to sink extra money into the game this time around.
