While new characters seem to be flooding into the game, Pokemon Unite seemed to have stayed away from legendaries. The closest they've ever come to adding legendaries in the game were Mew and Zeraora, who are both mythicals. That may all change, though, because it looks like one of the legendaries from the Galar region is soon to make its Pokémon Unite debut.
Galar Legendary coming to Pokémon Unite
The Twitter account recently showed a clip of a sword surrounded by foggy woods. There are actually several Galar references in the clip. First of all, the sword likely represents Zacian, a Pokémon that literally has a sword in its jaws. The foggy woods also are a reference to the Slumbering Weald, a foggy area in the Galar region where players first encounter Zacian in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
The caption of the tweet reads: "The Fairy King's Sword is ready to join the fight on Aeos Island." This further supports the claim that Zacian is coming, since Zacian is a Fairy-type. Zacian will follow many other Generation 8 Pokémon into Unite, as Greedent, Cramorant, and Cinderace are already in the game.
As to how it would operate in Pokémon Unite, it makes sense that Zacian would be an Attacker. In the main series Pokémon games, Zacian has one of the highest Attack stats. Its Unite Move might also incorporate Zacian's Crowned form. This refers to when Zacian transforms, becoming Steel-type as well as gaining some buffed stats. Zacian does not have a release date as of this article's publication.
