Best Project Zomboid Quality Of Life mods for Build 41+

So many mods, so little time!

Project Zomboid is a fun game, but it can be said certain aspects of the game could use a few improvements. Luckily that's where mods and the many variations of mods come into play.

Recommended Videos

So with that said, here you will find a short but neat list of a few Quality of Life mods we recommend using in your game. These mods will also be for Build 41+, so have no worries about out-of-date mods.

Disclaimer - Read Before Installing Mods!

Before installing any of the mods featured in this list, make sure to read mod descriptions and the latest updated dates. The reason is that the recent update broke some mods for the game, some mods might also become outdated later.

Because of that, it's best to check mods to save a lot of mod troubleshooting down the line. That said, enjoy the mod list below, and if you have any mod recommendations, feel free to leave a comment and add them to the guide. We will also continuously update this guide with new mods as we find them.

Crematorium

In the base game, players had to jump through a lot of hoops when they wanted to remove dead zombies from their bases. No longer is this the case if players download the crematorium mod for Project Zomboid. In short, the mod adds a function where players can simply right-click a campfire and use it to burn the dead undead in their base.

Expanded Helicopter Events

Expanded Helicopter Events is a simple mod that adds many cool features to Project Zombie. These features mainly come in the forum of new Helicopter-like events that further flavor and danger to an already great experience.

True Actions Act 2

True Actions is a fun little mod series that adds a bit of realistic life to characters in Project Zomboid. In this edition of the mod series, players will now be able to actually lay down in beds and sit in chairs.

Better lockpicking

Better Lockingpicking is a must-have mod for all that play the burglar career in Project Zomboid. The reason is that this mod adds a ton of new features revolving around lockpicking, hotwiring, and expanding and improving the burglar career.

Eliaz Better Bags & Backpacks B41

Eliaz's Better Bags and Backpacks is a must-have mod for those longing for more storage space when on the go. The Mod increases the capacity of all bags and backpacks and even makes it so you can wear a satchel with a large backpack on your back.

Armored Vests (41)

Armored Vests is a small mod that changes the various bulletproof vets featured in the base game. In short, it makes it so that all three vests gain both bite and scratch defense, thus making both items a vital item for defense against zombies. The mod also changes and adjustments to balaclavas, gas masks, and other items that protect both the face and neck.

Foraging Buff

If you like survivalist playthroughs, then you will want to get this mod, as foraging currently in the game can be a little tricky to use. Luckily this mod buffs foraging and makes it easier to find items while using the new search feature.

Combat Text (B40+B41)

If you are a fan of floating numbers that appear in combat, then you will love this mod. In short, Combat Text adds damage numbers and health bars to the zombies in the game. This lets players know when zombies are about to die and how long they need to keep swinging.

Sound Direction Indicator

Sound Direction Indicator is a nice little mod that adds a function that will indicate where a sound is coming from in the game. We highly recommend downloading this mod as the sound in the game can be a little finicky when it wants to be loud or quiet.

Better Sorting

The Better Sorting mod is a must-have for those who want to clean their inventory with ease. Better Sorting adds much-needed tags to various items you find in the game that label them by their purpose and use in-game.

Just Throw Them Out The Window

Eventually, you might be dealing with a situation where there is a ton of zombies on the second floor of your base. If you wanted to remove these zombies in the base game, it would mean lugging each corpse down the stairs to a new location. But with the Just Throw Them Out the Window mod, you can just do that with a new option when you right-click a window while carrying a dead zombie.

Weapon Condition Indicator [41.60+]

Weapon Condition Indicator is a mod that adds a durability bar for all tools and weapons in the game. Along with this, it also adds an ammo bar to let you know how much ammo you have and when you run out in the game. We highly recommend downloading this mod as you never want to be in a situation where you have a weapon you don't is about to break while fighting zombies.

Rain Wash

Rain Wash is a simple but must-have quality of life mod that makes it so when it rains, it will clean any blood you have on your clothes. The mod will also clean any vehicles the player has, thus making it a nice and handy mod to add to your game.

Has Been Read

Has Been Read adds a small icon to any books you have already read in Project Zomboid. Because of this, we highly recommend adding it so you can save inventory space when looting books from libraries and homes.
