Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways – Best Weapons

Best bang for your buck!

Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways brings plenty of new content to keep the game fresh. It offers a new take on the game story featuring Ada Wong, with plenty of new content to discover and more zombies to kill. I was glad to see that we got 13 new and unique weapons to accomplish this task, but I also noticed some of the old ones making an appearance. I wondered what are the best weapons in Separate ways and whether the meta has changed much since the base game.

Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways - best new weapons and how to get them

1 - Infinite Rocket Launcher

The Infinite Rocket Launcher is well-known among the old-school fans of the franchise as the main tool for speedrunning the game and a weapon of mass destruction. With the ability to one-shot every enemy in the game, leading all boss fights to premature endings, and not many weapons can rival it. To obtain the Rocket Launcher, purchase it from the Merchant for 80,000 Pesetas when you reach Chapter 2.

2 - Red9

Designed after a real-world Mauser C96, this ubiquitous weapon was a handgun of choice and a meta pick for the first Resident Evil 4 remake playthrough. You could obtain this weapon early enough in the base game, with it being available shortly after defeating Del Lago, but in the Separate Ways DLC, you will have to wait until Chapter 4 to purchase it from Merchant for 14,000.

3 - Chicago Sweeper

The famous Chicago Sweeper makes a comeback to the Separate Ways, and it's every bit as good as it was in the base game. You will make very short work of enemies with its unlimited ammo reserve and an excellent rate of fire. Like in the base game, obtaining this weapon in the DLC is no easy task—you will have to complete the expansion once on Professional Mode with an A Rank.

4 - Stingray

The stingray rifle is a modern-type semi-automatic weapon capable of dealing with targets from up-lose and afar. While not as effective against distant enemies like the SR M1903, it makes up for its versatility. Chat with the Merchant after getting to Chapter 5 to obtain this rifle; you will be able to purchase it for 20,000 ptas.

5 - Blast Crossbow

The Blast Crossbow is one of my favorite weapons to play in Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways because of the unique way this weapon works. It is a standard crossbow, but it fires explosive rounds capable of blowing multiple enemies apart. You can obtain the Crossbow from the Merchant for 70,000 ptas once you reach Chapter 3.

6 - SR M1903 Rifle

The M1903 is Resident Evil 4 remake's sniper rifle. It's well-known for its long-range and high-damage capabilities. It has limited use when engaging with the enemies close-up, especially at higher difficulty levels because of their erratic move patterns, but it's proven invaluable for dealing with those pesky snipers from afar, especially from Chapter 7 onward. You can obtain the SR M1903 Rifle next to a catapult at Chapter 1 Castle Gate.

7 - Punisher MC Pistol

The Punisher MC is an excellent alternative for those who don't like the look and feel of the Red9 pistol. The gun scales very well when upgraded and benefits additionally from a laser sight upgrade. To obtain this pistol, visit the Merchant at the start of Chapter 2 and have 10,000 ptas in your pocket.

8 - Elite Knife

Elite Knife is a bonus weapon in Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways, known as the unbreakable knife. As the name suggests, it never breaks, giving its wielder peace of mind of not having to repair it constantly. You must complete all seven Merchant requests to obtain this unique gear. As a reward for your effort, you will receive an Elite Knife.

9 - Sawed-off W-870 Shotgun

The W-870 is the very first weapon that you will obtain in the base game as an upgrade to Leon's pistol, and it will retain its use throughout the game. The Sawed-off W-870 Shotgun is its upgraded counterpart featured exclusively in Separate Ways DLC and offers you an increase in Power and Precision compared to its full-length counterpart. As a trade-off, you must contend with a lower ammo capacity, but in my experience it's worth it. You can obtain this weapon fairly early in the game by visiting the Merchant in Chapter 2. It will set you back 10,000 ptas.

10 - TMP Submachine Gun

TMP SMG is Ada's starting weapon in Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways, so you won't have any prerequisites to obtain it. It has a very respectable ammo capacity and an excellent rate of fire, making it a great choice for quick takedowns. This weapon reminded me a bit of the HUNK's MP5, at least in the style of use, so you'll love this weapon if you're a fan of the Grim Reaper.
