Clover RPG Race Tier List – Best Races

Being born lucky helps. Being born with a second chance at surviving lethal damage helps considerably more.

A Legendary roll is nice. A passive your build actually uses is better. Lesser Angel is my best overall race in Clover RPG, while Lesser Demon has the strongest physical-damage ceiling. For dedicated casters, Dark Elf and Elf are both excellent keeps rather than consolation prizes on the way to a 2% roll.

Clover RPG Race Tier List

S tier: Lesser Angel and Lesser Demon. A tier: Dark Elf and Elf. B tier: Eldritch and Dryad. C tier: Human. These are overall recommendations, with no strict ordering inside each tier. A caster can get more relevant offense from Dark Elf than from Lesser Demon, even though Demon ranks higher for its physical-build potential.

How I Ranked the Races in Clover RPG

I prioritize benefits that change fights: damage, resource efficiency, survival, and useful build interactions. Contract progression and merchant income also count, but they serve different purposes. Rarity, cosmetic variants, and how difficult a race is to roll do not earn extra points.

The rankings remain provisional where the mechanics are incomplete. Lesser Demon's peak damage is not its average damage, Dryad's regeneration still lacks key numbers, and Eldritch's Resolve bonus needs practical testing. The newer magic descriptions sharpen the pairings below without proving every interaction or damage-stacking formula.

TierRaces, Perks, and Ranking Explanation
S
Lesser AngelLegendary · Roll chance: 2%Best overall safety net; Spirit progression
  • Divine Retribution: Once per life, lethal damage instead triggers regeneration of 15% of your health. It gives you another chance to survive, but does not establish invulnerability against the next hit.
  • +10% Magic Resistance and +40 Energy. Angel has the largest Energy bonus of these races, plus resistance relevant against spell damage. Energy is not being counted as extra Mana here.
  • Heavenbound: Faster Spirit Contract progression and longer Spirit Dive duration. The progression bonus helps you get there; the duration bonus keeps providing value afterward.
  • S tier across a broad range of builds. It does not require a melee streak or a specific grimoire. Light and Time offer separate recovery tools, but surviving a lethal hit does not guarantee a safe heal or Rewind cast.
Lesser DemonLegendary · Roll chance: 2%Highest physical-damage ceiling; Devil progression
  • Wrath Unbound: Each melee hit landed without being hit adds 2.5% physical damage, up to 10 stacks. The stated racial bonus reaches 25% at full stacks; that is a ceiling, not permanent damage.
  • +5% Physical Resistance and +20 Health. Useful defenses for close fights, although taking less damage is not the same as avoiding the hit that threatens your streak.
  • Hellsworn: Faster Devil Contract progression and longer Devil Mode duration. The physical package already gives melee builds a reason to keep Demon before considering contracts.
  • S tier for disciplined weapon pressure. Flame's burn-assisted M1s and Lightning's thunder-imbued M1s are promising pairings. Neither their exact bonus stacking nor Beast spell eligibility is established.
A
Dark ElfRare · Roll chance: 10%Consistent spell damage and Mana regeneration
  • Spellcaster adds 5% spell damage. No melee streak, weather condition, or low-health trigger is required. It is the clearest direct spell-damage bonus among these races.
  • +10% Mana Regen and +10 Energy. Regeneration supports continued casting when Mana availability is the bottleneck. It does not shorten cooldowns or make missed spells connect.
  • A strong choice for damage-focused casters. Wind, Light, Time, and the other grimoires all have offensive spells to build around. The spell-damage perk does not establish stronger healing, longer control, or faster orb generation.
  • A tier, and an easy keep for a dedicated mage. Take its reliable offense seriously before chasing a Legendary whose main benefit may not suit your playstyle.
ElfUncommon · Roll chance: 20%Lower spell costs and sustained casting
  • World Tree's Blessing reduces spell Mana costs by 15%. As a simple example, a 100-Mana spell would cost 85 before other modifiers. Savings apply when casting rather than relying on regeneration afterward.
  • +20 Energy. This is a separate listed bonus, not a reason to add 20 to a Mana calculation. The cost reduction is Elf's defining caster benefit.
  • Wind is a natural efficiency pairing. Aerial Efficiency also lowers airborne Wind spell costs by 30%, but the stacking formula is unverified. Do not assume a combined 45% discount.
  • A tier when resources limit your casting. If Mana rarely runs out and cooldowns hold you back instead, Dark Elf's damage bonus becomes the more appealing offensive choice.
B
EldritchRare · Roll chance: 10%Steady physical damage with Health and Resolve
  • Corrupt Physique adds 2.5% physical damage. It requires no hit streak, giving it a smaller but steadier offensive benefit than Lesser Demon's stacking perk.
  • +10 Health and +2 Max Resolve. The Resolve bonus may matter at specific combat thresholds, but it cannot yet be translated into a fixed number of extra dodges, blocks, or escapes.
  • A reasonable physical-build foundation. Weapon-focused Strength investment and Misdirect traits fit the same direction, although their exact interaction with the racial bonus needs testing.
  • B tier with room to rise. The physical bonus is modest, and the value of those two extra Resolve points is still unresolved. Eldritch remains worth keeping while developing a weapon build.
DryadRare · Roll chance: 6%Health regeneration and sustain potential
  • Nature's Grace: When wounded, invoke a grace that briefly increases health regeneration. It offers a recovery effect, not explicit protection against lethal damage.
  • +10 Energy. A useful additional stat, but the regeneration is what needs to justify choosing Dryad over the other races.
  • Potential value in longer fights. Spacing and defensive play may give the regeneration time to work. A kit without its own heal could benefit, but its healing amount and in-combat behavior are not yet established.
  • Provisional B tier. Trigger conditions, duration, cooldown, and total healing will determine how strong it actually is. Light's healing and Time's Rewind do not establish any special multiplier with Nature's Grace.
C
HumanCommon · Roll chance: 50%Merchant income and NPC interactions
  • Sell items for 15% more. A base sale worth 100 becomes 115 before other modifiers. This is a selling bonus, not a universal discount on purchases.
  • Entrepreneur improves negotiation and persuasion with NPCs. Specific dialogue checks and rewards remain unclear, so do not build a progression route around assumed shortcuts.
  • Useful if you regularly sell spare loot. Bargain Master also improves selling prices, but the combined calculation needs testing before calling it a 30% bonus.
  • C tier for combat, not a broken character. Human has no direct damage or survival perk in this package. The economy bonus still has value while you progress and decide whether a reroll is worth spending.

Best Clover RPG Races for Your Build

Lesser Angel: Best Overall Race and Spirit Pick

Lesser Angel is the broadest recommendation because its key survival perk works without a hit streak or a particular magic. Magic Resistance gives it a clear defensive role against spells, and Divine Retribution can rescue a fight that would otherwise end on a lethal hit. Heavenbound adds further value if you follow Spirit progression, with longer Spirit Dive duration remaining relevant after the contract grind.

Light and Time now give that survival role more context. Light has self-healing through Divine Light, while Time's Rewind reverses recent damage. Those are separate ways to recover after surviving, not a guaranteed second health bar. Angel does not establish a safe casting window after Divine Retribution. Light's heal has a 60-second cooldown, and Rewind's exact recovery limits are unresolved. You still need to create space rather than assume the next button saves you.

Lesser Demon: Best Physical-Damage Ceiling

Lesser Demon rewards landing melee hits while denying the opponent a hit back. The potential 25% physical bonus is its main reason for S tier. Hellsworn strengthens the package, but Devil progression is not the only reason to keep it. A weapon-focused character already has a use for its offense, Health, and Physical Resistance.

Flame's Amplified Wrath rewards M1s against burning targets, while Lightning's Stormcaller's Respite can imbue M1s with thunder after a spell connects. Both give you reasons to weave weapon hits between spells. Their exact interaction with Demon's bonus needs testing, especially any added magic damage. Beast also encourages close-range pressure, but its claw and kick spells are not automatically physical attacks or qualifying stack generators.

Do not pick a weapon purely to chase stacks. Attack speed could help, but reach, recovery, and your ability to avoid retaliation matter just as much. A short weapon that gets you clipped every exchange can be a worse fit than a slower one you space well. Physical Resistance reduces damage; it does not mean you avoided being hit.

Dark Elf: Best Direct Spell-Damage Bonus

Dark Elf is my offensive caster recommendation when you want straightforward value. Spellcaster adds 5% spell damage, and Mana regeneration helps support continued use. Unlike Shadow's nighttime passive or Lightning's rain bonus, the racial damage perk has no environmental condition.

Its value follows the damaging part of your kit. Light's offensive spells can benefit without implying stronger Divine Light or Divine Field healing. Likewise, Time's spell-damage bonus does not establish better Rewind recovery, longer bubbles, or more orbs. Arcane Rebound offers another source of Mana recovery for a defensive caster, but its restoration should not be assumed to scale with Dark Elf's Mana Regen bonus.

Elf: Best Race for Lower Spell Costs

Elf is an A-tier caster race because avoiding a resource shortage can matter more than a small damage increase. The 15% cost reduction applies as you cast. If it lets you finish an attack sequence or keep enough Mana for a useful spell, it is doing real work. If you regularly wait on cooldowns with plenty of Mana left, it is solving the wrong problem for your build.

Wind is the clearest pairing to investigate: Gale Rupture and Gale Updraft help create airborne casting opportunities for Aerial Efficiency's 30% discount. Elf supports the same resource-efficient playstyle, but the combined calculation is unverified. Time's Timeflux also discounts orb-enhanced abilities. Neither interaction justifies adding percentages blindly, and Elf's spell-cost perk should not automatically be extended to Chrono Surge's mana-consuming dodge.

Eldritch: A Steady Physical-Build Option

Eldritch offers a small physical bonus without Lesser Demon's streak condition. That makes it a reasonable race to keep while developing a weapon build, particularly if you are still learning how to avoid trading hits. Its +2 Max Resolve is the main reason its final placement remains open.

Strength-focused play and Misdirect traits such as Liver Shot fit the same build direction. However, the exact damage interaction needs testing, and extra Resolve cannot yet be translated into extra dodges or a guaranteed escape. I would not spend rerolls just to move off Eldritch before knowing which problem a replacement would actually solve.

Dryad: A Sustain Pick That Still Needs Numbers

Dryad's appeal is recovering damage over time while preserving your other resources. That could be useful across repeated PvE encounters or longer fights where you can create breathing room. Flame, Beast, and Lightning do not have explicit self-heals in their current ability descriptions, making an external recovery perk worth investigating.

The missing details are substantial: how wounded you must be, how the grace activates, how long it lasts, how often it is available, and how much it heals. That keeps Dryad in provisional B tier. Pacifist's out-of-combat regeneration could support recovery between encounters, but there is no established multiplier between it and Nature's Grace. Dryad also cannot replace Angel's explicit lethal-damage protection.

Human: Best for Selling Loot, Weakest for Direct Combat

Human makes unwanted loot worth more, which is useful even if it will not win your next duel. The 15% selling bonus scales with how much you sell. It does not add 15% to quest rewards, increase every currency source, or reduce every shop price.

Entrepreneur also improves NPC negotiation and persuasion, although specific dialogue benefits remain unclear. The Bargain Master trait is a potential economy pairing, but its similar selling bonus does not prove a combined 30% increase. Human stays C because the other races offer more direct combat help. You can still progress with it and use the income rather than treating a common roll as a reason to restart.

Best Races for PvE and PvP

For general PvE, Lesser Angel is my safest overall recommendation. For spell-focused farming, Dark Elf adds damage and Mana regeneration, while Elf helps when casting costs limit your rotation. Lesser Demon has strong physical potential against enemies whose attacks you can consistently avoid. Its maximum stacks should not be treated as guaranteed boss-fight uptime.

For PvP, match the race to how you trade damage. Angel offers broad survival value, Demon rewards clean melee pressure, and Dark Elf or Elf support spell-focused play. A duel with predictable attacks may let Demon build momentum; a chaotic group fight can make avoiding every hit much harder. That is a consistency trade-off, not proof that one race wins every matchup.

How to Reroll Your Race in Clover RPG

To change your race, use a Race Reroll item. You are rolling for another random result, not selecting a race from this tier list. Check the current purchase price, trade restrictions, and any character-reset warning before using it; do not assume it behaves exactly like a Magic Reroll.

Earlier shop and reroll information priced the item at 325 Essence and included trading, NPC merchants, and a low-chance Gladiator drop as acquisition routes. Treat that price as historical until you check the current shop. The Gladiator drop rate is not established, so there is no reliable number of fights to budget around.

A reroll is not a guaranteed upgrade. Human is 50%, and each Legendary is 2% in the perk set used for this guide. Keeping a useful Elf on a caster can be a better decision than spending your resources chasing a Legendary that offers less relevant offense.

Which Race Should You Keep or Reroll?

  • Keep Lesser Angel for broad survivability, especially if Spirit progression is part of your plan.
  • Keep Lesser Demon for a weapon-focused build or Devil progression. Its physical potential is valuable even before contract bonuses enter the picture.
  • Keep Dark Elf or Elf on a dedicated caster. Choose between direct spell damage with regeneration and lower spell costs based on what limits your fights.
  • Keep Eldritch or Dryad while evaluating your build. A lower overall tier does not mean spending a reroll immediately improves your character.
  • Human is the clearest combat-focused replacement candidate, but you can use its selling bonus while progressing. Wait until you have spare rerolls rather than treating it as an emergency.

Important Mechanics That Could Change These Rankings

The main testing priorities are Lesser Demon's eligible hits and stack-loss rules, Divine Retribution's health calculation and reset conditions, Dryad's healing output, and the combat value of Eldritch's +2 Max Resolve. Contract progression rates and mode-duration increases also lack exact figures. Those details could change the relative value of the races more than rarity ever will.

Resource and damage calculations need the same care. Spell descriptions use Energy while several passives refer to Mana; this guide does not assume the terms are interchangeable. Likewise, a resistance bonus is not a guaranteed equivalent percentage of extra effective Health, and multiple damage or cost modifiers are not automatically additive.

Clover RPG Race Tier List FAQ

What is the best race in Clover RPG?

Lesser Angel is my strongest overall recommendation for its lethal-damage protection, Magic Resistance, Energy bonus, and Spirit benefits. Lesser Demon shares S tier for its physical-damage ceiling. The better choice depends on whether your build prioritizes survival, casting, or weapon pressure.

What is the best race for magic builds?

Dark Elf offers the clearest direct spell-damage bonus at 5%, plus 10% Mana Regen. Elf reduces spell Mana costs by 15%. Lesser Angel is the broad survival alternative. Choose around damage, resource shortages, or defense rather than rarity alone.

What is the best race for Beast Magic?

Lesser Demon is a promising choice if you use Beast to support frequent weapon attacks, but Beast spells are not confirmed to count as physical damage or generate Demon stacks. Dark Elf supports spell damage, while Lesser Angel offers broad survivability. There is no verified Beast-specific racial winner yet.

What are the race chances in Clover RPG?

The chances used in this guide are Human 50%, Elf 20%, Dark Elf 10%, Eldritch 10%, Dryad 6%, Lesser Demon 2%, and Lesser Angel 2%. They total 100%; Legendary rarity does not guarantee the best fit for every build.

Does Human give a shop discount?

Its current perks give 15% more money when selling items and improved NPC negotiation and persuasion. They do not establish a universal purchase discount. Human ranks C for direct combat value, but its selling bonus can still help fund progression.

Does Elf stack with Wind’s Aerial Efficiency?

Both effects reduce casting costs, but their stacking formula has not been verified. Do not assume Elf’s 15% reduction and Wind’s 30% airborne reduction combine into a 45% discount.

Do race variants affect the tier list?

Variants are cosmetic and do not earn a higher combat rank. The available counts are Human 0, Elf 5, Dark Elf 5, Eldritch 3, Dryad 3, Lesser Demon 5, and Lesser Angel 4.

Use your race to support the character you actually play. Angel and Demon lead this list, but a well-matched Elf or Dark Elf is already a strong foundation. Our Clover RPG guides cover the magic, weapons, and traits that finish the build.
