Sea of Thieves | Wild Rose Tall Tale | Chest of Memories Guide and Locations

Since it doesn't take too much time, we're going to include how to start this adventure in this section of the guide. If you have already started the Tall Tale and are instead looking for a specific item (such as the Music Box or George's Spice Box), you can use the appropriate link listed below.

HIDDEN JOURNAL LOCATIONS: When you start this adventure, you might notice in your Pirate Log that one of the Commendations associated with it is for finding all the Hidden Journals. You must have the Wild Rose Tall Tale active to find these Journals! As such, it is best to look for them along the way as you visit the islands in your iteration of the Tall Tale. Follow the link above to get the guide to locating these Hidden Journals.

If you would like to skip to the part of this guide that explains how to find the Chest of Memories, you will find that in Step Two. To see how to start this adventure, keep reading Step One below!

Step One: How to Start Wild Rose

Madame Olive at Sanctuary Outpost.

Because Madame Olive was closest to the protagonists of this story, she is the one that you will need to seek. You can find her on Plunder Outpost on the eastern side of the map. The image above shows you her location.

Upon Reaching Madame Olive, you'll find the Quest book on the left side of the tent (to her right). Once you start the quest, she will regale to you about her long-lost friends and express deep concern that they might be in some sort of trouble. The Quest Book will have pages already prepared that outline their story together so far.

Your initial task in this quest will be to find their Chest of Memories, which is covered in the next step of this guide. Be prepared for a grand story of love, adventure, heartbreak, and revival!

Step Two - Option A: How to Find the Chest of Memories

The Chest of Memories in Sea of Thieves.

When you flip through the pages of the Quest Book, you'll likely notice that the Chest of Memories is mentioned towards the last few pages you currently have in your possession. The location of this initial item is stated on the same page that mentions the Chest, as well as how to get to it.

The simplest way to go about this part of the Tall Tale is to go to the island and follow the short description of how to find its resting place! This seems straightforward enough, but like the other Tall Tales, some of the descriptions can be vague. If you are struggling with finding the Chest's exact location, you can use the rest of the guide to see the possible islands and locations in which it might spawn.

Step Two - Option B: Chest of Memories Locations

SPOILER WARNING: If you wish to solve this Tall Tale yourself, do not use this section of the guide. It reveals the islands and precise locations of the Chest. All the possibilities are listed below in alphabetical order. To know which island you will be headed to, you must see which island is mentioned in the book on the same page as the Chest of Memories.

Boulder Cay

Chest of Memories location on Boulder Cay.

Has anyone else noticed that Boulder Cay looks remarkably similar to Chicken Isle? Well, if Boulder Cay were a drumstick, you would find the chest at the spot where you hold it between your thumb and index finger. Right in that narrow patch of land on the northeastern side is where your dig spot is located.

Rapier Cay

Chest of Memories location on Rapier Cay.

The Quest book makes it easy to locate the Chest of Memories on Rapier Cay. It merely says the tip of the island, which is very hard to get confused with any other point. Shown in the map above is where you will need to dig, and how it will look. Although looking at it now, there is some possibility that someone might think it is at the tip of the small islets to the East. Still, you'll be heading to the very West side of this island.

Sandy Shallows

Chest of Memories location on Sandy Shallows.

Like the other islands that the Chest of Memories might appear, Sandy Shallows is not large and difficult to navigate. On the northwestern edge of the outer ring, you will find a large, flat rock sticking out of the sand. Your dig spot is located on the West side of this rock.

What's Next

Now that you have uncovered the Chest of Memories, you find that the inside of it contained additional pages for your Quest Book and new short stories for you to read. These stories further outline the memories and adventures of George and Rose. You'll also find that they mention a Music Box and a Spice Box on these new pages. This is covered in the next couple sections of our guide, aptly named Music Box Guide and Locations and Spice Box Guide and Locations

These next two items do not need to be followed in any specific order, so feel free to click either of the links above to move forward with this heartwarming story!
