A ship's name is important, and this is true of Sea of Thieves as well. Think carefully before you select your ship's name, as it can be a challenge raising funds to change it. Here is everything you need to know about ship names in Sea of Thieves.

How to name your ship in Sea of Thieves

To name your ship in Sea of Thieves, select the Play option from the title screen. Choose Adventure, then go to the My Ship tab. You must first purchase a Sloop, Brigantine, or Galleon. Once you do so, you can enter a name and brand it on your ship. You'll have to shill out lots of Gold, so make sure you purchase the one you want. Additionally, renaming the ship will cost you more.

How to change your ship name in Sea of Thieves

To rename your ship in Sea of Thieves, you must go to the main menu and select the Pirate Emporium. Navigate to the Captaincy tab and click on Ship Renaming Deed. You must purchase this deed to rename your ship with real money or Ancient Coins. Once you do so, you will need to purchase another Renaming Deed if you want to change your ship's name again.

Does changing your ship name affect your Sea of Thieves progress?

Nothing will change about your ship except for the name when you change your ship's name. All your progress will be safe and sound, so there's no fear of having to restart after changing your name. That being said, a new name could give your ship a new feeling, so consider what you name your ship carefully.
