Everything we know about Shadow Warrior 3 – Story, characters, gameplay, and more!

Shadow Warrior 3 is the third game in the rebooted series, and it will release on March 1, 2022. Developer Flying Wild Hogs has showcased the game and revealed more information as that release date draws closer. We have compiled everything we know about Shadow Warrior 3 below.

Story

In Shadow Warrior 3, Lo Wang seeks to reimprison an ancient dragon he and Orochi Zilla accidentally unleashed. To help the pair in this quest, they will have a mask of a dead god, a dragon's egg, magic, and many, many weapons. It is once again up to Lo Wang to stop the impending apocalypse by capturing the released dragon and defeating the numerous Yokai standing in his way.

Characters

The Shadow Warrior series features an eclectic cast of characters, a feature that holds true in Shadow Warrior 3. Players once again take on the role of Lo Wang, a corporate enforcer turned freelancer. Helping him is Orochi Zilla, his former employer and sidekick. Orochi Zilla recruits Motoko, a sorceress of the Komo Brotherhood, to help the pair kill the escaped dragon. Lastly, Lo Wang carries with him the Mask of Hoji, the last remnant of his friend from previous Shadow Warrior games. This unlikely team is the last hope to stop the dragon and the coming cataclysm.

Gameplay

Shadow Warrior 3 is a first-person shooter, and in it, Lo Wang has numerous weapon and movement options. He can wield various firearms to take foes out from a distance or get up close and personal with his katana. Lo Wang can also execute wounded enemies at close range. New movement options include wall-running, double jumping, air dashing, and a grappling hook, which give Lo Wang a streamlined movement set.

Shadow Warrior 3 features more linear levels and a new upgrade system compared to previous games. As the player progresses, they will unlock new weapons and gadgets. The environment can also be used to give Lo Wang an advantage in combat.

Weapons

Shadow Warrior 3 features many new weapons and returning favorites. One thing to note is that there is now a dedicated katana button, making melee combat all the more satisfying and easy. Weapons can also be upgraded and obtained by executing enemies. These are called Gore Weapons, such as the dual miniguns Double Trouble, which is earned by killing the Gassy Obaryion enemy. Combat will feel visceral and thrilling as players dive into Lo Wang's new arsenal.
