How to get M Class Ship Modules in Starfield

Add some Class M to your build!

Ship building is at the core of Starfield gameplay, so naturally players will try and stretch the mechanic to its limits. Modules are the main way in which you can customize your ship, with some being more unique than others. And sometimes when you build, you'll find less than accessible modules, like the M Class. So, what are M Class Ship Modules and how do you get them in Starfield?

How to unlock M Class Modules for ships in Starfield

You can use a console command to unlock M Class Modules (set 00155F4A to 1), but I found this to be buggy and cause my game to crash quite a bit. Instead, the more stable way to get M Class Modules for your ship is to download the M Class Modules and Ship Builder Unlock mod by Troigi.

Not only will the mod unlock M Class Modules and let you build an M Class spaceship, it will remove the length limits previously put on your ship. Installation of the mod is quite easy, but can be a bit tedious:

  • Go to the above link.
  • Download and paste the .txt file in your game root folder (location is SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Starfield).
  • Launch your game and start console commands (~) and type bat mclassunlock.
  • Retype bat mclassunlock in commands every time your start your game.

What are M Class Modules in Starfield?

Class M Modules are a type of ship module that exists in Starfield, but can't be used under typical circumstances due to the size of the modules. They are able to be located across the map, and especially around civilian outposts on planets. If you don't have a mod or console commands working, though, they'll essentially just be direction.
