How to mine Chlorine in Starfield

A gaseous element you should harvest quickly.

In Starfield, you can collect various natural resources and elements by exploring different planets. Chlorine is one of the gaseous elements you'll come across in the game, a resource required for crafting and research. Naturally, you need to know how to harvest this resource. After all, it can be tricky to collect gaseous elements! That said, here's how to harvest and collect Chlorine in Starfield.

To collect Chlorine in Starfield, you must walk close to a Chlorine Vent and quickly harvest the element. This is a fairly common gaseous element found on different planets, and I found it while exploring the Science Outpost area on Jemison. A few of the Chlorine Vents are located south of the Science Outpost landmark.

To travel to the Science Outpost, take your ship into space and orbit around the Jemison planet. You'll notice that the Science Outpost landing zone is on the southern side of the planet.

Chlorine is a toxic gas, and standing near the vents too long will cause serious lung damage to your character. While standing close to a Chlorine Vent, your watch will turn red, showing the "Toxic Gas Vent" message (check the yellow arrow on the image above to see how this looks in-game). The best way to harvest this element is to make sure your oxygen level is full before approaching the Chlorine Vents. Collect the resources and quickly sprint away from the area.

After sprinting away quickly from the toxic gaseous field, your watch blinks with a green "Protection Regen" message. While this means you are safe, it's ideal to check the Status Effects tab to see if you've been afflicted.

I found Chlorine near the Science Outpost on the Jemison planet. This region is one of the easiest locations to find this natural resource. Check the yellow circle on the map image above to see the precise location of Chlorine Vents (south of the Science Outpost). After landing near the Science Outpost on Jemison, search the area south of this landmark. You'll find different naturally occurring elements like Lead, Water, Chlorosilanes, Chlorine, and Argon.

There are a few other ways to harvest Chlorine as well. For instance, I traveled to Mars in the Sol System and set up an Outpost near Chlorine deposits. After creating an Outpost, you can build an Extractor - Chlorine (along with a power source) to harvest the element passively. You can also build a Gas Deposit close to the Extractor to ensure the element is stored after collection.

Which Planets have Chlorine in Starfield?

So far, I have found Chlorine on planets like Jemison, Bondar, and Gagarin in the Alpha Centauri System. Orbit around these planets with your ship, and use the Scan feature to check the locations where you'll find this gaseous element.

Likewise, I've also found Chlorine on planets like Mars and Earth in the Sol System. I recommend progressing in the game for a while before traveling to different solar systems. Also, have proper gear, resources, and medicine before traveling to Mars or Earth, as you might be afflicted with Heat Radiation while exploring these planets.
