On Feb. 20, Capcom revealed Street Fighter 6 at the end of the Capcom Cup finals. Announced alongside the new Capcom Fighting Collection, Street Fighter 6 is the latest mainline entry into the Street Fighter series.
Unfortunately, there’s currently no date announced for the release of Street Fighter 6. Capcom showed off a number of renders and cutscenes, but nothing resembling complete gameplay.

This suggests the game hasn’t been in active development for too long. Some have suggested a December 2022 or January 2023 release to coincide with the start of the 2023 Capcom Pro Tour. The current Capcom Pro Tour title, Street Fighter 5, released its last character pack just a few months ago. The expected life span for Street Fighter 5 is coming to a close, but it’s not over just yet.
One criticism Street Fighter 5 faced on release was a focus on the esports aspects of the game. With the game designed around being esports-friendly, some hardcore fans disliked the general direction of SF5.
For Street Fighter 6, players hope that it's a return to form. Some have even suggested that SF6 could pull a move similar to Street Fighter 3, and have little to no returning characters, instead unveiling a whole new roster.
