Here's how to change strategy in Tales of Arise

Strategy is the behavior setting that controls the way your party members will behave in combat. If you want to change strategy, you will need to visit the strategy tab inside the main menu hub.

Once inside the strategy tab, you can select from nine different settings, each with unique functions to change your party strategy. Each of them will affect the following things your party members can do in combat.

  • How they perform in combat.
  • How far they try to stay away from enemies.
  • How aggressive they are.
  • CP use and health item use.
  • If they will engage bosses in combat.

To change a strategy, click on one of the slots on the left of your screen numbered one through four. These are your strategy slots, and changing a strategy in one of these slots will change how your party member acts in combat according to the active strategy setting.

To change your active strategy setting, click or press Y, circle, or F. That said, here's what all four Strategy settings do in Tales of Arise.

StrategyWhat it does
Fight with ModerationThis setting is the best middle ground and will cause party members to engage normally with enemies but also use an appropriate amount of health items and use both health and support artes.
No ItemsThis setting will cause your party member not to use health items in combat and instead focus on using support and healing artes.
Focus on healingThis setting will have your party member focus on staying at a distance and healing with items when low on CP.
Fight AggressivelyThis setting will cause your party members to be more aggressive and combat and use support artes and use healing artes when in danger, along with using healing items to restore hp.
Save CPThis setting will cause your party members to conserve CP when CP is at 50 percent unless in the case of a party member being KO. In this case, they will use CP to revive them.
Don't use CPThis setting will cause your party members to conserve CPunless a party member is KO. In this case, they will use CP to revive them.
Go all out against BossesThis strategy will cause party members to focus and use all artes when fighting bosses. Along with this, they will also use health items when low in CP,
Healing OnlyThis strategy will cause party members to focus on healing only and nothing else.
Don't do anythingThis strategy will cause party members to do nothing and stand around.
