Where to find a Crystal Ball in Terraria
The only way of acquiring a Crystal Ball is by obtaining it from the Wizard NPC for the price of 10 Gold, and this can only be done once you find the Wizard and free them. After this, they will allow you to buy from them. Finding of a Crystal Ball is impossible organically, as it is not a naturally occurring item. Furthermore, there is no way to craft a Crystal Ball. However, getting in touch with the Wizard has its fair share of prerequisites.
Where to find Terraria's Wizard NPC
If you need to find the friendly Wizard NPC, there are some challenges in the way of this. First, you need to enter Terraria's Hardmode. This is automatically triggered by taking down the Wall of Flesh boss. Once this task is complete, then you can find the Wizard.
However, the Wizard also has a prerequisite for his spawning, that being that he can only appear at the underground level where Caverns spawn or below them. One tip for making the search easier is to use a Lifeform Analyzer, as it will help to detect the Wizard and other nearby NPCs. When you find the Wizard, they will be named Bound Wizard and will require your assistance to free them. After freeing them and talking with them, they will allow you to buy from them. The effects and uses of a Crystal Ball in Terraria
Unless you are picking up the Crystal Ball for purely cosmetic reasons, you'll probably want to know what effects the Crystal Ball has. The activation of the item's effects is quite simple, as all you need to do is set the Crystal Ball down on a surface to activate it. Once you interact with it, it will give you the Clairvoyance buff, which lasts until death and grants 20 extra mana, five percent extra damage, two percent magic critical strike chance, and a two percent reduction in mana consumption when casting spells. For magic users, these buffs are incredible, but the Crystal Ball has one more major benefit for magic users in that it also functions as a crafting table for magical items such as an Endless Quiver or a Sandstorm in a Bottle.
