Augments are a vital mechanic in The Ascent as they allow you to use abilities to help you out in combat. Or even for ease of use purposes, like collecting loot for you.
There are two ways to equip augments, but one way has negative repercussions but can be done at any time and the other way takes longer but is harm-free. In the menu of the game, there is a tab called Augments, and you will see there are slots for two Augments to have equipped on your character.

All you need to do is press A or Right Click on Aug Slot 1 or 2, and find the augment you want to equip. You can change any equipped augment the same way. But if you change an augment this way, you will all of your Energy, which is the resource needed to use said augment ability. It will regenerate over time, but if an augment is changed mid combat, it's a very risky maneuver.
To equip a augment harm-free you must visit the NPC called Grafter located in the Warrens, Cluster 13 area. Find them, and click on Go for Surgery. Here you can change all your augments to how you want them without suffering from energy loss.
