How to get the Map in The Forest

The map is one of the most sought-after items in The Forest, as it allows players to see where they are going and find essential locations. However, players cannot access the map at the start of the game, leading to much confusion and some getting lost in The Forest. 

Where to get the Map in The Forest

Players can find and get the Map item by visiting the Second Cave location in The Forest. The best way to get to the Second Cave, also called Hanging Cave or Cave 2, is to find its main entrance at the Main Cannibal Village. To find the Main Cannibal Village, we recommend heading to an open clearing and searching for a large Mountain that lies north of The Forest's Peninsula. We recommend turning around and heading southeast if you can see the Mountain to the location shown below.

Towards the southeast is where you can find the entrance to the second Cave. Inside the Village, you can find the entrance shown above and on the map once you get it. You can also quickly get to the Cave by dying for the first time in The Forest. In short, when players die for the first time, they will get dragged by Cannibals and hung up inside Cave 2. Using either method, you can find the map inside the initial chamber of Cave 2 by climbing down from the main entrance or cutting yourself down using an axe. Inside the Hanging Cave and find the Map item and a Compass sitting next to a dead body in the initial chamber. Once you get the map, you can use it to mark all unique locations in The Forest. 

How to fill out the Map in The Forest

Once players grab the map item, they need to explore The Forest's world to mark other locations on the map. You will also need to fully explore all Cave locations before they display on the map. Cave locations will also show separately from land locations and change automatically when players exit or enter caves.
