How to unlock the Realms of Chaos in Total War: Warhammer 3

Descend into Chaos!

The Realms of Chaos aren’t just the title of the new campaign in Total War: Warhammer 3; they’re also a location that you must enter to complete the campaign.

But in order to do so, you’ll have to wait. Unlocking of the Realms of Chaos doesn’t begin until the Chaos Rifts have opened. These tend to spawn at around turn 30 to 35. Although, if you’ve completed certain objectives, you can spawn the Rifts earlier.

This gives you access to the four Realms of Chaos: The Realm of Khorne, the Realm of Tzeentch, the Realm of Nurgle, and the Realm of Slaanesh. Even though the Chaos Rifts are colored to different realms, they can take you to any of the four Realms, so no need to search for the right one. However, the color of the Rift will affect which type of army comes through the Rift later.

Your Faction Leader must be the one to enter the rift with their army, so make sure you’re well prepared. The Rifts can also help you travel across the map. But it’s not all good! Rifts spread corruption, so it’s a good idea to make sure you close them. Also, Rifts only stay open for around 15 turns, so you have a limited time to enter the Realms of Chaos and secure the Daemon Prince soul.
