How to convince the Mages to side with Emem in Vampire The Masquerade: Swansong

Choose carefully in this encounter.

Vampire The Masquerade: Swansong is a game where decisions are paramount. During conversations and confrontations, players' choices can determine how the rest of the competition shakes out, making what you say to friends and potential allies crucial. One possible supporter group is the Mages Emem encounters outside of her containment on Sept. 5, 2019.

Who are the Mages in Vampire The Masquerade: Swansong?

The Mages are a group of underground vampires allied with Prince Iverson and her sect of Vampires. Though the two groups were initially on good terms, Iverson's rash leadership and inconsistent treatment of the Mages have them skeptical to side with Iverson going forward. Only Emem can salvage this partnership with a quick wit and Dialogue skills. We recommend you have your Persuasion leveled up for this encounter, as this Skill is Emem's specialty.

How to win the Mages over in Vampire The Masquerade: Swansong

Emem will converse with the Mages, primarily Deneb Osborne, to discuss where the group goes from here. Once the Confrontation meter appears at the top of your screen, you'll have to choose what you say very carefully to Osborne. Players can miss two questions in this Confrontation, and missing more than two will fail users and stop players from winning the Mages over to the Prince's side. Before each crucial Confrontation point, the Confrontation meter reappears at the top of the screen, showing how many questions you've missed and how many you can going forward.

Confrontation Point One

For the first Confrontation, players must choose the Intimidation option to scare Osborne's underline when she starts to question Emem. Should you not have your Intimidation Skill leveled up, you'll have to take the loss in the first Confrontation point, but don't fret, as you can still salvage this operation.

Once you've completed this option, another prompt will appear, instructing players to use Deduction. Don't waste points here. Play coy and ask questions, as this response won't weigh on your Confrontation total.

Confrontation Point Two

Once the Confrontation meter reappears for prompt two, you'll want to select and use Persuasion for the second portion of this encounter. Boost your Persuasion level by one before choosing this option to increase your success rate to 100% in this encounter if you can. If you can't boost your success rate, you still have a high rate of success, which should see you through this predicament.

Confrontation Point Three

Once again, Emem will have the option to use another Persuasion technique in the third stage of this Confrontation. Like before, select the Persuasion option and boost your level by one to increase the success rate to 100% to win this stage.

Confrontation Point Four

The final stage of the Confrontation has the Mages ask Emem what they'd receive for continuing an alliance with Prince Iverson. The best option is to use the Education option to convince thee Mages that Emem can't bargain on Prince Iverson's account, but if you don't have enough points for this option, choose the My Piece of Boston option from the menu as a bargaining chip. The Mages will agree to this proposal, ending the Confrontation. Completing these tasks will grant Emem the Diplomat Trait (-20 to the following experience cost for a Social attribute.)

Before you leave, ask the Mages for more details, exhausting Emem's questions before she moves on and ends the level to gain more knowledge on The Masquerade world.
