Penances in Warhammer 40k Darktide are achievements that challenge players to go that extra mile. They have gained infamy for being quite difficult to achieve and often require preplanning as well as good team cooperation. But the real twist lies in some of them being buggy; this happens to be the case with Abhor The Mutant Penance.
How to finish Abhor The Mutant Penance in Warhammer 40k Darktide
To finish the Abhor The Mutant Penance in Warhammer 40k Darktide, you will need to strike the Mutant down with the Zealot's Dash ability. That means the Dash has to make the killing blow, or you will not be able to complete the Penance. We recommend trying this with a heavy-hitting weapon, like Thunder Hammer. Having a premade team for this Penance is highly recommended to maximize the chance for success.

We have found two effective ways to accomplish this Penance. The first, perhaps more morally dubious, is to use your teammate as a punching bag for the mutant. If the mutant targets your teammate with his Charge, wait for him to pin your friend down, then carefully wear the mutant's health down before striking the final blow.
The strategy mentioned above won't work if the mutant targets you. In this scenario, you and your teammates will have to take the mutant's health down. The best way to do that is to know how much damage your Dash deals. Armed with that knowledge, you can whittle the mutant down to very little health before committing to the finishing Dash.
As always, we recommend you attempt this once you have your Zealot maxed out at level 30 because it will make your life much easier. Using the following Feats focused on your Dash will make this Penance more manageable:
- Level 10 - Bloodletting
- Level 25 - Rising Conviction
- Level 30 - Purge the Wicked
How to fix the bug in the Abhor The Mutant Penance in Warhammer 40k Darktide
Fixing the bug in the Abhor The Mutant Penance in Warhammer 40k Darktide is no easy task. Some players have reported not completing the Penance despite the conditions being met. A possible solution is to perform the finishing Dash while the mutant performs his charge at the same time. It is not a perfect solution, but it may help the players finally complete the Penance. Hopefully, the developers will patch this bug shortly.
