Warhammer 40k Darktide – Brittleness Stat, Explained

Why are all stats confusing?

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide occasionally refers to various weapon stats that the game doesn't explain very well. One such stat is called Brittleness, which briefly appears in the description of the Thunderous trait. Brittleness remains unclear to most players as it's not explained outside of being briefly mentioned in the Thunderous trait. Luckily, we at Pro Game Guides explain what Brittleness is below, and how it affects your weapons in Warhammer 40k Darktide.

What is the Brittleness Stat in Warhammer 40K Darktide?

The Brittleness stat appears mostly on axe weapons, referring to how much damage is done to enemies with axes by lowering their armor rating. In short, Brittleness will reduce the total armor enemies have, thus increasing the damage you do to them. Brittleness is unlike other weapon stats, as it is directly tied to the Thunderous trait. Brittleness will also stack, increasing the damage you do to enemies by lowering their armor by 15 percent.

Your Brittleness stat will only last for five seconds, but all damage towards targets will increase during the brief five seconds. We highly recommend using this stat to help defeat specialists like Maulers, Reapers, Crusher, and Bulwarks. Another similar stat to Brittleness is Rending which refers to how much armor penetration your weapon does. So if you were confused about either Rending or Brittleness, remember the following: Brittleness lowers armor, and Rending increases armor penetration.
