After purchasing the Dragonflight expansion for World of Warcraft, players might wonder when they can actually play the new content. After all, an expansion is no small investment, especially with a monthly subscription to maintain. So, how do new and returning players get in on the fun and start the Dragonflight MSQ (Main Story Quest)?
When can you play the Dragonflight expansion in World of Warcraft?
To play the Dragonflight content, players will need to have a character at level 60. Upon logging in for the first time since the second pre-patch event, players will receive a quest to speak with an NPC in either Stormwind or Orgrimmar (depending on the player's faction). This will then guide them to the docks in Stormwind or the zeppelin platform outside Orgrimmar to begin their journey to the Dragon Isles.
This method tracks how Blizzard has been handling expansions for the past few entries. The new continent and zones become the new endgame, while you can use older content for leveling. After all, there are two decades of content to enjoy, and forcing someone to play through it all before getting to the latest content would be madness. So, if you're all caught up with a level 60 character or want to use a character boost, that's all you need to do to explore the ancestral dragon homeland and earn Renown Faction rewards.
