Yakuza Like a Dragon: Does it have Multiplayer?

The next installment of the Yakuza series is pulling a Nintendo and going a completely different path than it's predecessors with Yakuza Like a Dragon. As all of its older brothers were full of high octane action in real-time, however, with Yakuza Like a Dragon, it's more akin to the older Final Fantasy games or the Dragon Quest franchise. However, if the Final Fantasy VII Remake can go into action territory, we don't see why Yakuza can't attempt an RPG genre!

Yakuza Like a Dragon multiplayer

Yakuza Like a Dragon does not have multiplayer in any shape or form; even though previous titles had a mini-game-Esque multiplayer, Yakuza Like a Dragon hasn't got anything like that. It might not be surprising that Yakuza Like a Dragon doesn't have any multiplayer features, as it's a fully single-player game, but as it's moved into a different genre altogether, it's more or less sealed the deal on any aspect of multiplayer.

In Yakuza 0 and the remakes Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2, you could choose to play a few mini-games with a friend online or even locally on the main menu, such as Darts, Poker, Mahjong, and even Arcade Games, etc. However, the games may differ depending on what game you are playing, but it was still an option regardless. It'll be sporadic that you'll never find a person online to play with, yet the choice was still available to try.

Even Yakuza 6: The Song of Life had a form of asynchronous multiplayer with the Clan War mechanic, as it was a reverse tower defense mini-game. You can create a clan of different groups with different abilities and aim to defeat all the groups on your opponent's side. You can upload your strike team and hierarchy setup onto the Yakuza 6 servers and then compete against others. Yes, it's not against others face to face, but you can still level up and gain rewards through doing this.
