An Amazon in Diablo 2 Resurrected

Best Amazon Builds in Diablo 2 Resurrected

Wonder Woman would destroy Diablo.

Over 20 years after it was initially released, Diablo II has made its return. This has, of course, led to an influx of players interested in rekindling their love for finding the best synergies and techniques to make in their quest to defeat Baal, Mephisto, and Diablo himself. We cover some of the best builds for Amazon, the strongest ranged combatant in the list below.

Best Amazon Builds

Amazons are best known for their prowess with the javelin and the bow, making them expert ranged combatants. Amazons imbue their ranged attacks with magic abilities, essentially casting the class the perfect support class, capable of dealing heavy damage and disabling debuffs to enemies. The Amazon can usually carry herself solo, but they are best used in groups for crowd control.

Equipment

One important thing to note about equipment is that choosing the right kind almost always depends on the player's methods rather than the build itself. Since loot is randomly generated when you slay enemies, it is always best to equip gear that best suits your needs rather than searching for specific items. However, we listed the items below that best suit the Amazon class overall. If different gear is recommended for a specific build, it will be mentioned in the Additional Notes for that build.

  • Helm: Guillaume's Face or Valkyrie Wing
  • Armor: Enigma or Chains of Honor
  • Gloves: Dracul's Grasp or Soul Drainer
  • Belt: Verdungo's Hearty Cord or Thundergod's Vigor
  • Boots: Gore Rider
  • Shield: Stormshield (if necessary, Amazons rarely use shields)
  • Amulet: The Cat's Eye or Highlord's Wrath
  • Rings: Raven Frost, Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band, or Stone of Jordan

Bowazon

One of the two classic Amazon Builds focuses on using her proficiency and magic abilities with the bow. This is perhaps the most versatile of builds for the Amazon, as players can alter it for the party's or player's needs up until the late game.

  • Skill Points
    • Multiple Shot: 20
    • Guide Arrow: 20
    • Strafe: 20
    • Inner Sight: 10
    • Valkyrie: 20
    • Dodge: 1
    • Critical Strike: 1
    • Slow Missiles: 1
    • Avoid: 1
    • Penetrate: 1-3
    • Decoy: 1-3
    • Pierce: 1
  • Stat Points
    • Strength: Enough for equipment.
    • Dexterity: Dump most stat points into Dexterity.
    • Energy: Base level.
    • Vitality: Up to 100 is ideal.
  • Added Notes
    • The Bowazon is a popular and simple build, but it's highly recommended that you get a hireling to distract mobs while you deal damage from the sidelines.
    • Gear
      • Weapon: Upgrade your bow as necessary and by comparing them as you find them. Faith bows are widely regarded as the general go to, but if you're using a crossbow, you might want to imbue it with Lycander's Aim.

Lightning Javazon

The Javazon is the Bowazon's older, stronger, and more focused sister. While the Bowazon has strength in her versatility, the Javazon almost always selects skills and play styles that focus entirely on her Javelins. With the Lightning Javazon, you can easily clear single enemies or full mobs, even without help.

  • Skill Points
    • Power Strike: 20
    • Charged Strike: 20
    • Lightning Strike: 20
    • Lightning Fury: 20
    • Pierce: 10+
    • Dodge: 1+
    • Avoid: 1+
    • Evade: 1+
    • Critical Strike: 1+
  • Stat Points
    • Strength: Enough for Monarch Shields and Spirit Rune Word (156)
    • Dexterity: Enough for Titan's Revenge (109)
    • Energy: Base level.
    • Vitality: Dump almost all your stat points in Vitality.
  • Added Notes
    • Build up Fists of Fire in the early game until you can build up Phoenix Strike.
    • Gear
      • Helm: The best helm for the Lightning Javazon is Griffon's Eye with a Lightning facet
      • Weapon: Titan's Revenge is widely regarded as one of the best Amazon weapons in the game.
      • Belt: Razortail is best for this build since the effect stack with Pierce.

Fendazon

Fendazon Amazons primarily use the Fend skill to turn the (usually ranged) Amazon class into a melee build that can cleave through large groups of tough enemies.

  • Skill Points
    • Fend: 20
    • Decoy: 20
    • Critical Strike: 10
    • Penetrate: 1+
    • Slow Missiles: 5+
    • Inner Sight: 5+
  • Stat Points
    • Strength: Enough for high-end Amazon equipment.
    • Dexterity: Enough for high-end Amazon equipment.
    • Energy: Base level.
    • Vitality: Dump almost all your stat points in Vitality.
  • Added Notes
    • Maximizing damage is crucial for Fendazons since they are always close range. Because of this, players should opt to use a Spear as their main damage dealer. If required to play more defensively, players should have a shield and Javelin as their backup.
    • Desert Mercenaries with Might or Holy Freeze are best for Amazon. Act II hirelings are usually best for all Amazons.
    • The Decoy skill is essential in almost every battle with large groups of mods as it pulls them together to allow you to jump in and destroy them all at once.

Thunderfury

The Thunderfury Amazon is one of the most effective crowd control builds in the game. Although she is usually weaker in the early game, this build is extremely powerful when teamed with the right equipment. This is a skill-based build and is definitely an acquired taste that requires a lot of practice to get used to.

  • Skill Points
    • Jab: 10 (Passive Players)
    • Jab: 20 (Aggressive Players)
    • Lightning Fury: 20
    • Critical Strike: 20
    • Dodge: 5
    • Avoid: 5
    • Evade: 5
    • All other Passive and Magic Skills: 1+
    • Power Strike, Charged Strike, Lightning Strike, Lightning Bolt: 1+ based on playstyle.
  • Stat Points
    • Strength: Enough to wear desired items.
    • Dexterity: Dump most stat points into Dexterity.
    • Energy: None.
    • Vitality: Enough to suit your playstyle, but generally isn't required if you have the right gear.
  • Added Notes
    • Focus heavily on gear that improves your attack rating. If you can't, invest extra points into Penetrate.
    • Thunderfury Amazons have no need to put any points into Bow and Crossbow Skills.
    • Gear
      • Weapon: To be effective later in the game, this build needs to have Thunderstroke or Titan's Fury as her main weapon.

Plagazon

The Plagazon is one of the more unique Amazon builds that focus on using poison damage. This is an effective build for almost exclusively passive players and provides remarkable versatility for the Amazon, who is usually more focused on her skills.

  • Skill Points
    • Plague Javelin: 20
    • Poison Javelin: 20
    • Dodge: 5-15
    • Avoid: 5-15
    • Evade: 5-15
    • Pierce: 5+
    • Decoy: 1+
    • Critical Strike: 1+
    • Penetrate: 1+
    • Valkyrie: 1+
    • All Passive Skills: 1+
  • Stat Points
    • Strength: Enough for equipment.
    • Dexterity: Enough for maximum block.
    • Energy: Base level.
    • Vitality: Dump almost all your stat points in Vitality.
  • Additional Notes
    • This build is harder to use on Nightmare and Hell difficulty since there are a lot more mobs with immunity to poison. However, if you can work in tandem with other players, this build will still deal decent damage.
    • At least 1 point of Decoy and Valkyrie is essential for this build to distract mobs and draw them close together. Without them, this build is essentially useless.
    • The Plagazon is a great build to run with other characters in the early game and boost them up to higher levels for access to better gear.

Ultimately, the best build for you depends on your play style. However, the builds above are tried and tested by many players with experience in the game. If you have any builds that you think should be mentioned, tell us in the comments below!
