The community was furious when Battlefield 2042 accidentally showcased cosmetics with Update #3. One of these items include the "Father Winter" Christmas themed legendary skin for Boris Specialist. As of now, you cannot get the Father Christmas skin in Battlefield 2042 for it has been pulled back.
The developers' decision to withdraw the skins was most likely because of the backlash from the veteran players. Although selling cosmetics is a major part of a live-service game's monetization model, the Battlefield community believes there is no place for such fancy items in a warzone.
Battlefield Direct Communication Twitter posted an explanation for what this means for the future of the game. According to EA, the Boris Santa skin was planned for next year's Christmas. Have a look at the official tweet and thread below.
The creators at DICE and Ripple Effect said, "Development for Live Service requires us to work months in advance, and enables us to have options when we reach key moments in our first year. Today, we have other priorities, and so whilst we have the skins, we presently have no plans to utilize all of them this Holiday."
It was further stated that unique cosmetics for limited-time modes and Battlefield Portal will be added to the game in the coming seasons and updates. The game will also launch weekly missions and unlockable rewards soon.
