Do I have to switch Characters in Gotham Knights?

Can I play as the same knight in Gotham Knights all the way through?

You can play as any knight you want whenever you want. Redding clarified that they wanted players to be able to switch characters whenever they wanted but acknowledged that some would have a special bond with one knight over the others. Therefore, players can play the whole game with one knight or switch them out whenever they wish.

Because there are so many upgrades and customizations in the game, this is good news. If you were allowed to upgrade one of the knights but then forced to play as another that you haven't, it would ruin the pacing and immersion of the game.

Of the four knights, most players have a favorite, and these are arguably the most popular sidekicks Batman has ever had:

  • Nightwing - The Original Robin, Dick Grayson of the Flying Graysons.
  • Red Hood - The second Robin, Jason Todd, was once thought to have been killed by the Joker.
  • Batgirl - Barbara Gordon, daughter of Jim Gordon who was the Commissioner of Gotham's police force before he died.
  • Red Robin - The third Robin, Tim Drake, almost as good of a detective as Batman himself
