Dr. Ashleigh Reid grew up in the harsh Frontier, where she learned to rely only on herself. She was a human, but not an ordinary one. She had a knack for infiltrating and manipulating people’s minds. She was hired by a group of mercenaries to steal an experimental fuel source from a lab in Olympus, a city in the Outlands. Ash spent years posing as a researcher and sabotaging the project. But her plan backfired when the lab exploded, killing her.
Bangalore - 38, Taurus
Bangalore is the definition of driven and was born into a family where everyone has served with the IMC. During her time in the IMC Military Academy, she made display of this drive. On one occasion disassembling and reassembling a Peacemaker in under 20 seconds, all while blindfolded. She is the definitive Taurus of the bunch, embracing the strong and determined nature of the bull sign, placing her birthday sometime between Apr. 20 and May 20.
Bloodhound - Unknown, Capricornus
Bloodhound has shown their love for nature from an early age. Being taught in the Old Ways, rejecting technological advancement, and embracing the natural world. However, Bloodhound was constantly drawn to what can be accomplished using technology to help protect and preserve. They embody efficiency, discipline, and devotion, making them a shoo-in for the goat sign, placing their birthday in the Dec. 22 to Jan.19 time frame.
Ballistic - 63
The Brinkman fortune was built on dirty money, and August Brinkman inherited it all when his parents paid the price. He was a billionaire orphan, angry and self-destructive, who joined the Thunderdome Games, the brutal precursor of the Apex Games. He called himself Ballistic and became a star. Ballistic fought with no regard for anyone but himself, and he was the first to achieve fame in the Thunderdome.
Caustic - 48, Aquarius
Love what you do, and you'll never work a day in your life. Caustic was among the sharpest minds of Humbert Labs, working relentlessly to produce a pesticide that would help save the Outland's crops. This was taken to the extreme when, after continued failure on inert tissue, he began to explore the options of living test subjects. Caustic's strong dedication to his work and his distinct pride in it make him the ideal Aquarius. This places his birthday between Jan. 20 and Feb. 19.
Crypto - 31, Scorpius
A man of secrets, Crypto is. He was orphaned at a young age and spent his years working for the Mercenary Syndicate along with his late sister. After the hacker found an anomaly in the Apex Games algorithm that could predict the result of a given match, Crypto's sister mysteriously disappeared. Crypto is now in hiding as he has been framed for his sister's murder.
He is defined by his quest to find and seek revenge on the people who framed him. He is secretive but functional—he is willing to give people what they need, but nothing more or less. Crypto, being a master hacker, also has exquisite attention to detail. All these match him with the scorpion sign. This would make his birthday between Oct. 24 and Nov. 21.
Catalyst - 30
Tressa Crystal Smith is a woman of refined taste and aloof manners who prefers crystals to most people. She was born on Boreas, a planet on the verge of collapse due to its decaying moon. On Boreas, everyone had to conform and be efficient, but Tressa never fit in. She found her true self among other outcasts who practiced crystal readings, moon rituals, and personal witchery.
They helped her through her transition and made her feel less alone in her turbulent adolescence. But when her best friend took drastic action to protect their moon from corporate greed, Tressa was torn between loyalty and fear. She eventually fled from her home planet, seeking refuge in the only place that mattered to her friend: their moon, Cleo.
Fuse - 54, Aries
Fuse is the life of the party. He's an explosive expert who has dabbled in mercenary work, fighting in the Bonecage, and now joining the Apex Games. He is confident and laid back and tends to just "go with the flow," not really considering long-term plans. With a strong sense of adventure and fearlessness, Fuse is the definite ram sign of the bunch. His birthday falls sometime between Mar. 21 and Apr. 19.
Gibraltar - 30, Taurus
Gibraltar (our second Taurus) is strong but gentle. He is the son of two SARAS Volunteers, and as such, has made his personal mission to protect those in need. This was further reinforced when his boyfriend was in a nearly fatal motorcycle accident. His goal in the Apex Games is to help keep his colleagues safe. And while he may be a protector first, Gibraltar has a thirst for excitement.
He placed himself in front of his teammates to not only protect them but also send his opponents packing. His devotion to others and his thirst for adrenaline make him a perfect fit for the bull sign. This would place his birthday between Apr. 20 and May 20.
Horizon - 37 (88 years displaced), Virgo
Centuries ago, Horizon was at the helm of solving an energy crisis in the Outlands. With the help of her apprentice, Dr. Reid, she discovered Branthium. The only problem is that this element (which could be the key to limitless energy) can only be found in a black hole, but Horizon and Reid wouldn't let that stop them from finding it.
On their journey to capture the element, Reid betrayed Horizon, running away with the Branthium and sending Horizon into the heart of the black hole. She escaped, but 88 years had passed. She is now searching for a way to go back in time to reunite with her son. Her desire to protect others and the fact that she does not let the tragedy she suffered bring her down make her the perfect Virgo. This puts her birthday between Aug. 23 to Sept. 22.
Lifeline - 24, Aquarius
Lifeline is the doctor we all need. Raised by parents deep in war profiteering, she made it her mission to undo the damage done by them. She joined the humanitarian organization the Frontier Corps and participates in the Apex Games to help fund their humanitarian efforts. Her dedicated compassion for others and deep value for human peace make Lifeline the model water bearer sign. This places her birthday sometime between Jan. 20 and Feb. 18.
Loba - 34, Libra
When Loba was 9, she bore witness to Revenant (another player in the Apex Games) murdering her family. Since then, she has survived petty theft to turn her rags to riches. As her heists greatened, rumor spread that if you want something stolen, Loba is who you turn to. Upon learning Revenant is a current participant in the Apex Games, she's signed up and is out for blood. Loba is a person who enjoys the finer things, stealing from the ultra-wealthy to make what was theirs, hers.
She is also a person who won't settle—she wants to take the big prize. Whether that be a big take or Revenant's life. Loba's hunger for justice and to settle the wrongs done by balancing the ultra-rich by making their wealth hers makes her the poster Libra. Her birthday then would be from Sept. 23 to Oct. 23.
Mirage - 30, Leo
Mirage is a chronic prankster and addict of the spotlight. He's made his name as a developer of Holo-Pilot technology. The riches of the Apex Games drew him in instantly. Mirage is now the life of the Apex Games, charming audiences whenever the cameras capture him. His bold and theatric personality makes him the Leo of the bunch, always looking to be the center of the action. This puts his birthday between July 23rd to Aug. 22nd.
Mad Maggie - 56
Margaret Kōhere had no family to call her own in the dusty and dull outskirts of Salvo. She was lucky to find a friend in Walter Fitzroy, a boy who shared her love for chaos and adventure. They grew up together and became mercenaries, forming the Cracked Talon—a formidable force in the Outlands. Margaret earned the nickname Mad Maggie for her reckless and ruthless style.
But her dreams of a free Salvo were shattered when Sandringham Kelly, a rival warlord, made a deal with the Syndicate. And to make matters worse, her best friend Fuse left her behind to join the Apex Games, leaving Maggie with nothing but anger and betrayal…
New Castle - 41
Jackson Williams was a former IMC soldier who faked his death and changed his identity to Lamont Craig. He tried to live a normal life as a father and a husband, but he had secrets that haunted him. He had deserted his post when he realized the IMC was doomed to fail, and he had left his sister, Anita, behind to protect her from the IMC’s wrath. He hoped she would forgive him someday, but he knew he could never see her again.
Octane - 24, Gemini
Octane is a textbook adrenaline junkie and never wants to stay in the same place. He's always moving, and boredom is a poison. He's made his name doing risky stunts, and this would end up biting him in the back. While trying to launch himself through a Gauntlet with a grenade, he lost both of his legs. This wasn't going to stop him, though, as the legend Lifelink outfitted him with top-of-the-line bionic legs.
He now participates in the Apex Games to satisfy that inner thrill seeker and to show he won't be held back. Octane's love of the exciting, his sense of humor, and his pension for self-sacrifice make him the perfect Gemini. His birthday then is between May 21 and June 21.
Pathfinder - Unknown, Cancer
Pathfinder is the most optimistic robot you've ever seen. He came online decades ago with no clue as to who or what had activated him. Pathfinder is enthusiastic about helping his allies, utilizing his design as a scouting and surveying unit. He joins the Apex Games to try to draw the attention of the person who created him.
Pathfinder's unconditional friendship and kindness have drawn even the deadliest competitors to his side. He's always ready to help those in need and do it with a (robotic) smile. This places his birthday between June 22 and July 22 for the perfect crab sign.
Rampart - 21, Sagittarius
Rampart is a private business owner who has made her name in the underground Gauntlet circuit, climbing to the top and showcasing her skill with her own custom gear. She's taken jobs from smugglers, Syndicate members, and everyone else. She was the victim of an arson attack, burning down her shop and leaving nothing but an Apex Invitation.
Rampart plays in the games to show off her modded tech and show how you can turn rags to riches. Her self-confidence in her own abilities and her willingness to prove that she knows her stuff make her the perfect archer sign. This places her birthday between Nov. 22 and Dec. 21.
Revenant - Unknown, Scorpio
Revenant... used to be human. He was one of the Syndicate's greatest hitmen, now reborn with help from Hammond Robotics. Over time, as his human body began to fade, more machine would take its place. He was too valuable to die and has since been brought back from the brink of death so many times it has all blurred together. He swore vengeance on those trapping him in this simulacra form, but centuries have passed.
He plays in the Apex Games to satiate that hunger, taking pleasure from "decommissioning" his opponents. Revenant's Pursuit of always thinking he can do better, he can become more efficient, and he can become the ultimate personification of the assassin fits in perfectly with the drive of the scorpion sign. This would place his birthday between Oct. 24 and Nov. 21.
Seer - 26, Gemini
Before Seer was born, it was foretold that he would bring misery to the world, and when he was born his world's moon was struck by a meteor. His entire existence was thought by his community to be a bad omen. The true lights in his world were his parents, who loved unconditionally and saw Seer for the empathetic and wildly creative person he was. He was drawn to the theatricality of the Arena and has since become an icon for the outcast. He moves on now to the even bigger stage of the Apex Games, showing that no matter what others think of you, you can always prove them wrong.
Seer's originality and ability to not let society beat him down are keystones of what makes the Gemini. They find their own way and have unmoving self-knowledge, and Seer is no exception. This places his birthday between May 21st and June 21st.
Vantage - 19
Mara Contreras grew up on the frozen planet of Págos, where she learned to survive with only her mother, Xenia, and a sniper rifle. Xenia was a woman of few words, but Mara was curious and talkative. She devoured the only book she had, the Encyclopedia Outlandica, and dreamed of exploring the galaxy.
Valkyrie - 30, Libra
Valkyrie is bold, fierce, and isn't beyond bending the rules a bit to get what's hers. When she was young, she stole her father's Titan, wanting to be just like him. The next day, he left and didn't come back. This drove her to search for what happened to him and mix with some of the more unsavory of company. She smuggled cargo and outdrank outlaws at the local bars.
After some time, Valkyrie was able to find the person responsible for her father's disappearance. She was going to kill him, but he pleaded with her to be better and honor her father's memory. She shot him anyways... but not lethally. Just knowing she could find him was enough, and as luck would have it, the man was holding an invitation to the Apex Games. Her brazen character, short fuse, and ability to not let anything stand in between her and what she wants make her the perfect Libra. Placing her birthday between Sept. 23 and Oct. 23.
Wattson - 22, Taurus
Wattson has a unique connection to the Apex Games—she's the daughter of Game's electrical engineer. She discovered her love for electronics young, and it helped ground her when she'd bounce between hyper-focused and hyper-distracted. She read relentlessly, becoming such a skilled engineer that she was commissioned to build the Apex Game's containment ring. This glory was met with tragedy as her father passed away that day. It was this tragedy that moved her to accept an invitation to join the games.
She utilized her knowledge of the arena (that she built) to push for victory. Wattson's desire to absorb any and all information about engineering and how that knowledge defines her character makes her a great example of the bull sign. Her birthday then falls between April 20 and May 20.
Wraith - 32, Pisces
Wraith is a deadly assassin. With the ability to tear the fabric of reality and manipulate spacetime, she easily can get the edge on her opponents. However, everything has a cost. Years ago, she woke up in an IMC detention center with a major case of amnesia. In one reality, she had volunteered as a subject for her own experiments, which left her in an amnesiac state and subject to deafening voices inside her mind. Not to mention her partner, who saw this and then kept Wraith locked away. It wasn't until another version of Wraith reality jumped and told her to listen to those voices that our Wraith was able to break free and reality jump herself.
Wraith still doesn't have a great grasp on who she is, and with so many of the Apex Games taking place on abandoned IMC bases, she hopes to discover more by competing. Wraith's ability to contain overwhelming emotion, her hyperawareness of her surroundings in battle, and her ability to turn trauma into strength make her the ideal Pisces. This places her birthday between Feb. 19 and March 20.
