How to craft a Skeleton Key in DMZ

The key to all doors.

Call of Duty: Warzone DMZ's Season 3 content update introduced several useful features to the game, including the Skeleton Key. You may have come across various locked spaces on different maps, be it for faction missions or while looting. These loot spots were only unlockable via their specific keys. But now, you can use the Skeleton Key to unlock any locked space in DMZ.

How to get the Skeleton Key in DMZ

I haven't found the Skeleton Key as a loot item ever in DMZ. However, the guaranteed way of acquiring one is by trading for it at buy stations. Visit any shop on the map, and under the Barter menu, you'll find the option to get a Skeleton Key by trading in other items that make its recipe.

To be able to trade for the Skeleton Key at buy stations, you first need to complete a task. The item trade unlocks only after you've killed the Velikan in Building 21. Therefore, deploy into the facility during weekends and take out the boss. Once you've unlocked the Skeleton Key trade, you can get it at the buy stations on all the DMZ maps. The barter recipe for the Skeleton Key for different maps is:

  • Al Mazrah: 1 GPU, 2 Gold Bars
  • Ashika Island: 1 Videocassette Recorder, 2 Gold Bars, 1 Vintage Wine, 1 Encrypted Hard Drive
  • Vondel: 3 3-Plate Armor Vests, 3 Self-Revive Kits, 1 Gold Bar
  • Building 21: 3 Encrypted Hard Drives, 2 Gold Bars
    • There's only one shop in Building 21, and it's located in the open area on the second floor, directly underneath the Core Lab.
  • Koschei Complex: 1 Alpha Board, 2 Gold Bar, 1 Server Tape - Silver, 1 Lab Code Book
    • The only buy station inside the Koschei Complex is situated in the Factory Admin sector.

If you look at the recipes to craft the Skeleton Key on all the maps, Building 21 is the most favorable, as Gold Bars and Encrypted Hard Drives can be easily found inside this facility. However, this map is unlocked only during weekends. The next feasible method is to get the master key in Al Mazrah. But since the GPU is the rarest item, here's a neat method you can use.

The best way to get the Skeleton Key on Al Mazrah

Here's my preferred way to get the Skeleton Key:

  1. First and foremost, craft a Secure Backpack that allows you to carry items between deployments, i.e., from one match to the other. For this, you'll require 1 Electric Drill, 1 Gas Can, and 1 Gold Skull. This step can be done at any Buy Station in Al Mazrah or Ashika Island.
  2. The next step is to acquire a GPU, which can be easily done on Ashika Island if you have the Tsuki Castle Weapons Locker Key. Make your way inside the Tsuki Castle Hideout, where the Bombmaker resides. Unlock the castle by hacking the Wheelson and go to the locker on the first floor. You'll most definitely find one or more GPUs by opening the three locked lockers.
  3. Extract the GPU from the map, and it'll stay with you thanks to your Secure Backpack. Now, deploy into Al Mazrah, go to the nearest Buy Station, and trade your GPU for a Skeleton Key.
