9 Most important tips for beginners in Warzone 2

Save yourself a trip to the Gulag.

Warzone 2.0 can be an overwhelming experience for a new player. However, even veteran Warzone players might have a hard time wrapping their heads around the bevy of new features included in the game. Al Mazrah is a large map with many activities, POIs, enemy AI combatants, and other players vying for the victory royale. If you wish to come out on top, you must start implementing winning strategies in your gameplay. The following guide includes various key tips and tricks for beginners in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0.

1 - Tweak in-game settings for performance

First things first: if you wish to outperform enemies, you need to have a smooth gameplay experience. For this reason, consider trading-in visual fidelity for performance. Simply go to your in-game Settings from the Menu, and change the Graphics settings to maximize FPS. The higher your frame rates, the better the game will run on your device.

2 - Learn the map

Al Mazrah is a sprawling map containing various POIs you might not be familiar with. However, many of these locations are directly taken from Modern Warfare 2's Multiplayer maps. Therefore, a great way to get familiar with the locations in Al Mazrah is to play Multiplayer matches and learn each POI. A better understanding of the map will allow you to decide where you should land and give you the upper hand should you find yourself immersed in combat.

3 - Prioritize important loot

You will be scrambling for loot the moment you set foot on Al Mazrah. To get set-up for combat as quickly as possible, you must prioritize important loot to pick up first. The following are the best items to loot first in Warzone 2.0:

  • Weapons - Always make sure to acquire weapons as fast as possible. Ideally, your loadout should include one mid to long-range weapon, like Assault Rifle or SMG. For the second weapon, you could opt for a Sniper Rifle, or a Launcher.
  • Armor Plates / Armor Vests - Picking up improved Armor Vests, like the 2-Plate Armor Vest and 3-Plate Armor Vest is crucial to survive firefights. Along with Armor Vests, collect as many Armor Plates as possible to keep your shields up constantly.
  • Tactical / Lethal Equipment - Tactical and Lethal Equipment are important as they give you additional offensive and defensive measures to utilize in combat.
  • Gas Masks - Gas Masks are important for the latter stages of the match where the zone shrinks. Getting caught in the toxic green fumes of the end zone can quickly end in death, so always keep a mask handy.

4 - Create a custom loadout

In Warzone, you can create a custom loadout with your favorite weapons, attachments, equipment, and Perk Packages. Getting your custom loadout with the weapon of your choice can be a massive advantage in Battle Royale. To get your custom loadout in a match, you can raid Enemy Strongholds or loot Loadout Drops that drop in random locations on the map.

5 - Clear enemy Strongholds and Black Sites

Enemy Strongholds are fortified enemy bases activated in various locations on Al Mazrah soon after the match begins. Players can raid these enemy Strongholds to obtain valuable loot, including a Loadout Drop to get their custom loadouts. Black Sites are beefier versions of Strongholds, which include a strong enemy Juggernaut who players must defeat. Black Sites will provide even more valuable loot and reward players with a permanent Weapon Blueprint.

6 - Complete objectives and Contracts

Apart from enemy Strongholds, players can also take on various Contracts to earn a solid chunk of XP and cash in a short time. Contracts can be found on the map, indicated by a logo that resembles a green mobile phone. The following are all types of Contracts in Warzone 2.0:

  • Bounty
  • Most Wanted
  • Safecracker
  • Secure Intel
  • Tactical Nuke

7 - Purchase items from the Buy Station

Once you have enough cash, don't hoard it! You can purchase valuable items from Buy Stations, including Weapons, Killstreaks, and Tactical and Lethal Equipment. Additionally, you can also revive fallen teammates from Buy Stations. They can be found on the map indicated by the grocery cart logo.

8 - Interrogate fallen enemies

This is one of the most important things to remember after successfully knocking down an enemy player. Interrogation is a feature in Warzone 2.0 where you can interact with a fallen rival to extract information regarding their teammates' whereabouts. When you down an enemy, do not finish them off. Instead, use the Interrogation feature to reveal the location of the rest of their teammates on the map.

9 - Communicate with your squad members

Communication is the key to forming synergy with your squad members. Always make sure to ping important loot, enemies, and POIs to inform your teammates. Additionally, use the voice chat feature to relay further information to squad mates.
