Should you side with Voodoo Boys or Netwatch in Cyberpunk 2077

Should you double-cross the double-crosser?

Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 is a morally gray place, and while the game will frequently throw choices at me, I never truly felt like I was doing the right thing. During the "I Walk The Line" mission, the story culminated in a choice between siding with the Voodoo Boys or the NetWatch agent. With V's life on the line, I felt the pressure of making the smart choice, but none of the options seemed straightforward. If you're having the same dilemma I had, this guide will point you in the right direction.

During the pivotal moment of "I Walk The Line," the NetWatch Agent will offer a compromise. He will ask you to let him walk away freely, and in return, he will fish the Voodoo virus out of your system and release both Brigitte and Ti Neptune.

What happens if you side with the NetWatch Agent in Cyberpunk 2077?

If you choose to accept the NetWatch Agent's offer in Cyberpunk 2077, he will upload a kill code on the data shard and give it to you. As you exit the room, you will get a call from Placide, who suspects something's going down, asking you what happened. You will tell him you must speak to Brigitte. Go outside to meet with the Voodoo Boys, and they will take you to Placide in Batty's hotel. Once inside, you will have a brief and very unpleasant conversation with Placide, which is interrupted by Mamma B. She will give the orders to take the others to the crypt.

After that, you will wake up in an ice bath, realizing that all of Voodoo Boys runners are dead. This will immediately turn the gang hostile toward you. You must fight your way out of the crypt by fighting Placide. Once you take him down, loot a key from his body and exit the building.

The NetWatch Agent will honor his part of the bargain by purging your system of malware. The Blackwall will be kept safe, but you will be at war with the Voodoo Boys from this point on. Personally, I took this choice as I didn't want to have to deal with Voodoo boys or the malware.

What happens if you pick the Vodoo Boys in Cyberpunk 2077?

If you choose to stick to the original plan and stay with the Voodoo boys, you will wrestle the Agent to the ground and shove a hard link into his head. But something goes wrong, and you suddenly feel a surge that knocks you out cold. Once you wake up, Jonny will claim that the Agent was right and that the Voodoo Boys used the access you provided to fry all the agents, with you getting a shocker in the process.

Once you exit the building, the Voodoo Boys outside will offer you a ride to Placide, who will be surprised to see you alive. Confront him before Brigitte arrives to separate you and sortie the runners into the crypt. Brigitte will approach you once you wake up and exit from the ice bath. You'll have two choices:

  • Walk out of the crypt peacefully.
  • Fight your way out.

Walking out ends this mission quickly, but choosing to fight your way out will net you more loot, EXP, and—most importantly—a taste of sweet revenge. On my second playthrough, I chose to fight the Voodoo Boys on my way out, and while Placide was no pushover, it was worth it for his legendary Timeworn trench coat.
