How to enable Passive Mode in Dredge

The ocean just became cozier.

When I first played Dredge, I wasn't expecting the horrors that awaited in the ocean's abyss, but I quickly realized I needed to put on my big boy pants if I wanted to survive in this fishing simulator. However, Black Salt Games have added a new Passive Mode that removes a bit of the fear of playing Dredge. Naturally, I sought this mode out and needed to know how to turn it on.

How to turn on Passive Mode in Dredge

Passive Mode was added to Dredge with Update 2, allowing players to enjoy the fishing aspects without worrying about what terrors lie below the depths of the ocean. That said, you'll need to enable Passive Mode if you want to turn Dredge into a cozy fishing simulator. Here is how to turn on Passive Mode in Dredge.

  • Open the Settings menu.
  • Find the Passive Mode option.
  • Enable it.

What does Passive Mode do in Dredge?

Passive Mode makes the oceans a safer place in Dredge. It does not remove any creatures of the deep but rather makes them peaceful. You can safely sail past any creature and relax, including the deadly Leviathan, as they will not aggro and attack you. This is perfect, considering Update 2 added in new creatures, including ten new aberrations and eight new types of wildlife. Feel free to use the new photo mode to capture these new additions.

That said, I recommend playing through the game and completing the story before using Passive Mode. Fearing what lurks in the water is one of the main appeals to Dredge, even if I am a big baby when it comes to video game horror. But the suspense is definitely worth experiencing when playing Dredge for the first time.
