Ever since it came out, the game has continuously been updated with better and better choices of generals. All of this can be quite confusing, especially for new players. Best S-Tier Generals in Evony

Alfred the Great

Alfred the Great is a highly-ranked ranged attack general once you max him out. This will take a lot of resources, but it will be worth it. He has numerous specialties that buff your ranged troop formations significantly and provide siege bonuses.

Elise

Elise is one of the best ground Defense generals in Evony, providing enormous HP buffs for her ground troops. Her special skill is always active and requires no development, so she's an ideal general for this march type. Unfortunately, you will have to spend money for an in-game top-up to get her five-star special skill HP buff of 30%.

Maeda Toshiie

Maeda Toshiie is considered one of the best ground generals you can get in Evony. He has a special skill that will give a significant buff to ground attack and the HP of your troops. Unfortunately, he can only be obtained from packs, meaning he's not a free-to-play general in Evony.

Minamoto no Yoshitsune

Once you fully max this general out, Minamoto no Yoshitsune provides the highest ranged HP and a great ranged attack for your troops. His final specialty will provide you with 46% of the General's ranged troop attack, which is significant, but, unfortunately, requires you to spend considerable money in-game.

Zachary Taylor

Zachary Taylor is the only pure Defense general we considered for S-tier in Evony, specializing in ranged defense. His special skill requires no development to be effective, and his Special skill buff considerably increases In-city Ranged Troop Attack and HP. His one downside is that he's not very versatile and should never be used in attacks.

Best A-Tier Generals in Evony

Darius I

Darius I is a great ground debuff general that you can use for subordinate cities. He costs 60,000,000 gold to obtain. When you max out all of his specialties, his ground buffs are 50%.

Dimitry

While not ranking very high in a tier list, this general is an excellent choice for reinforcing your allies. To accomplish this, he has a large ground troop defense and HP buff of 20%, as well as a ranged troops’ attack by 30%.

Best B-Tier Generals in Evony

Ly Thuong Kiet

Ly Thuong Kiet is a very good heavy-ranged defense general with a skill that makes your traps trigger more frequently. His Special skill is always active, requiring no development. When you reach a five-star rating, it will grant you with an in-city Ranged Troop Attack bonus of 20% and a Defense and HP buff of +20% when he is in the main city.

Shajar al-Durr

Shajar al-Durr is a Wall Duty Officer who can increase food protection from troop upkeep by 200% and resource production speed by 100%. This makes her great for fast development. Her Special skill is always active, requiring no development.

Alexander the Great

Alexander the Great is a good choice for a PvP as a Ground general with an ability to boost Ground Troop attack and march size during rallies. Alexander, too, has a Special Skill that is always active and requires no development.

Princess Kaguya

If you're looking for a ranged PvP general, Princess Kaguya is a very interesting choice. She also has a very good ranged HP buff and a ranged attack boost. Don't use her as a Defense general because her abilities are exclusively Offense-based.

Best D-Tier Generals in Evony

Lu Ban

Lu Ban is a great Ranged general, good for Subordinate City Mayor thanks to his skills. Costing 16,000,000 gold, you can obtain him from the Tavern. He provides ranged buffs at 20% when all specialties are maxed out.

Khalid

Khalid is a good Siege general and a great option for small-time spenders. You can also take him as a Siege defense option as well. His Drawn Sword of God ability Increases the siege machines’ defense and attack by 20% and the attack of mounted troops by 20% when he leads the army.
