Which House should you choose first in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes?

Black Eagles, Blue Lions, or Golden Deers?

Unlike other Fire Emblem entries, choice matters a lot in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Much like in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, you are tasked to choose which of three Houses you’d like to join: the Black Eagles, the Blue Lions, or the Golden Deers. You can most certainly run all routes after your first run of the game, but there’s just something special about your first run.

Which route should you choose on your first playthrough of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes?

If we look at combat ability only, the Golden Deers route is always the safest option to go for. Their team is made up of a versatile roster of units and is guaranteed to cover most (if not all) of your enemies’ weaknesses. Lysithea, the best mage of the game, is part of the house. Your leader, Claude, is also the only bow flier in the game, which is very useful. After all, mobility is key to saving your allies in a Warriors game like Three Hopes—and the fact that Claude can shoot from afar makes him a very reliable ally.

Of course, there is nothing stopping you from purusing more specialized tactics. Black Eagles does a little poorly on defense but makes up for it with pure physical and magical offense. The Blue Lions lack magical prowess, but the defensive capacity of most of your allies makes them the House with the great survivability rates. Many of their units, such as Sylvain, Dimitri, and Ingrid, evolve into cavalry or fliers, which give them great mobility.

However, do note that you can build a prefectly well-rounded team no matter what House you choose. You can recruit units from Chapter Four onward. Just remember that some units, like the House leaders and their primary attendants, are non-recruitable.
