Unlike the Arkham games, Gotham Knights take place over a series of nights, not one night. Many have wondered if the game will include a day-night cycle, where the player determines when certain things occur.
Recently, creative director Patrick Redding and producer Fleur Marty met with IGN and spoke about how the story will handle the timescale. Its day-night cycle is not conventional; during the day, players will be at the Belfry, the headquarters, and they will roam the streets during the night.

The game is supposed to take place over "many nights," but it appears that doesn't mean you decide how many nights it will take. When you're roaming the streets and searching for clues only at night, there won't be a 24-hour clock, but instead, you'll have to decide when to return to the Belfry.
The game will take place at the Belfry during the daytime. It's a place where players manage their characters and progress, but it's also a narrative space. Superheroes patrol at night and are hidden during the day, so this time scheme makes sense.
