The Batcave has been replaced by the Belfry, a new HQ for Batman's apprentices in Gotham Knights. The Belfry is a secret headquarters built by Tim Drake in Old Wayne Tower. Batman's last message to his followers informs them that the Batcave has been destroyed and the Belfry will be the new base of operations.
During the game's daytime, the four characters of Gotham Knights will stay in the Belfry. Besides being a place to manage characters and progress, it's also a narrative space. At night, they leave the Belfry, patrol, and unravel the mystery of Bruce Wayne's death.
What is the Belfry used for in Gotham Knights?
Players can use the Belfry to switch characters, analyze mission clues, craft gear, change suits, and pretty much anything else you'd expect from a character management area.
Recently, creative director Patrick Redding and producer Fleur Marty met with IGN to talk about the game and gave many details on Belfry. Redding revealed that you could speak to any of the knights in the Belfry, including Alfred Pennyworth, the butler.
In response to whether the Knights would be out of costume in the Belfry, Marty said they hinted at that in the trailer. According to Redding, it was important for players to see how the Knights were feeling. Characters are supposed to be able to converse in the Belfry, so disguises would detract from the experience.
