Grounded is all about survival. There is danger around every corner, and the responsibility to take care of your character by eating, drinking, and treating them for diseases or ailments. The environment can also be ruthless, so it's essential to know where the best places to build a base are to keep you or your team safe.
Location One
The first location to build a base is probably one of the best. And rather than one specific spot, this location covers a general area. This location is near the giant oak tree in the upper center of the map, preferably near the Oak Lab. The image above shows the lab's location, so anywhere around it, in the open, is a good bet.Â
This spot, especially at the beginning, is prime real estate. From here, you have access to just about everything you need in the early stages of the game: Grass Planks, Dry Grass Planks, Weed Stems (both level 1 and 2), Acorns, Flower Pedals, Thistle Needles, Spider Webs, and much more. As for water sources, there is a soda can, a juice box, and the entire pond nearby. Also, it's important to stay near a lab or lab station to analyze new resources as you discover them.

Many bugs spawn nearby, like Ladybugs, Larvae, Ants, Weevils, and Gnats. Although many helpful insects live nearby, there are also a few spiders at the base of the oak tree and near the wooden posts. But they are pretty easy to avoid.
One downside of this spot is its distance from most of the higher-level resources and items. You will have to travel to other areas, usually across the yard, to make new, unique discoveries that are required for late-game weapons and gear.
Location Two
This second spot is a bit more work, but your base will stay safe from anything that might destroy it. This spot is on one of the larger lilypads on top of the pond. This is the perfect flat surface for any kind of base you want to build. Additionally, you can build little bridges to other lilypads nearby to make a connected system of platforms or more structures. Also, the pond is a unique location to explore, and this base spot makes access to the pond quick and easy.Â
The only downside is being able to get your building supplies out to the lilypad. Holding planks while swimming will cause you to drop them. So, building a bridge to the lilypad is essential. But after doing so, you will have a nice path to get back on the mainland.
Location Three
This last location is a bit of a hike from the starting location, but it will be worth it. This location is on the bottom right side of the map, where a large hedge is. This big bush provides a ton of cool possibilities for base building. You could build it somewhere underneath the hedge on the ground or, even better, build it up inside the hedge.
This area is a complex structure of winding tree branches and leafy overhangs. There are even some ziplines in the hedge that take you from one section to another. A multi-connected tree house system could be built above the ground, making a unique yet safe base.Â
Nearby, there is a water source, plenty of building materials, and even a birdbath that you can get on top of.
One downside about this spot is it is a bit of a nest for spiders. Down on the ground, you may encounter large spiders, while there are baby spiders in the trees. The baby ones are not tough to handle, and it's a good spot to farm spider resources, which are essential for higher-level weapons anyway.
Whatever spot you choose, there may be some ups and downs. But the Grounded map is fairly large, and just about anywhere will do.
