The launch of New World has become by far the second biggest launch of 2021, with well over 320k concurrent connected users both waiting to jump in and playing New World.
320k is also 178k shy of the largest reported CCU (Concurrent Connected Users.) This number currently sits at 498k for Valheim, thus making New World the second biggest launch of 2021 to this date.
Update: According to SteamDB, New World has just beaten Valheim's CCU of 498k, with a number of 524k.
This number, of course, is sure to grow as more players embark into the world of New World, as servers open up at their allotted times.
New World has also received critical praise during the Beta, Alphas, and Open Beta, and it has been quoted as reviving the MMORPG genre, which seems to hone true with its current CCU. Speaking of which, Lost Ark, another game made by Amazon games, is sure to fall a similar trend. The reason why is that Lost Ark has also received lots of praise from fans alike and is in a similar genre.
But, how it will stack up to the likes of Valheim and New World remains uncertain, but we feel confident that big waves will be made upon launch day for the game.
