Best Amara Build – Mayhem 11 & Raid Boss Ready

We're taking a look at one of the best builds for Amara in Borderlands 3!

Our Borderlands 3 Best Amara Builds Guide features a look at one of the top options for the character and class. Amara is more of your tank class, and she likes to get into the fray by pummeling her enemies with melee. She can also use her magical fists to grab her enemies and lock them down or send out a projection of herself that will deal damage to anything in its path!

Best Amara Build

Amara Skill Tree

This build relies on Amara's Splash and Elemental Damage. All you need to do is use your Ties that Bind ability and shoot chained enemies, watch the explosions, and chill. For an Augment, I would recommend Stillness of Mind for more crowd control. You can choose any Element depending on the situation, either: IncendiaryCorrosiveCryo, or the default Shock.

Gear Suggestions

  • Sniper Rifle: Sandhawk or Krakatoa
  • Assault Rifle: The Monarch or Kaos
  • Pistol: Beacon or Unkempt Herald
  • Submachine Gun: Flipper or D.N.A.
  • Rocket Launcher: Backburner or Plaguebearer
  • Shotgun: Projectile Recursion or Trevonator
  • Grenade Mod: It's Piss or Miltois Hunter-Seeker
  • Class Mod: Phasezerker
  • Artifact: The Pearl of Ineffable Knowledge
  • Shield: Re-Volter or Any Element Old God

  1. those builds are great, but the thread is lacking advice for players who have not reached level 50+ yet.
I am currently level 15 and not sure which build to work up with only 15 points. What do you reckon, should I keep all my points in one tree? I eventually want my build to end up FOUR ELEMENTS BUILD – SOLO MAYHEM 4 BUILD

    Any advise?

  2. What’s the point of reducing shield recharge delay in a melee build? All roid damage is designed for amp when shields are down or low.

  3. Does what action skill you take matter?

    1. In the beginning it doesn’t matter that much, but when you unlock the one for the build you are doing then yes it does.

  4. How can i make amara do more elemental damage moves with her phasecast ability. For instance, mine always uses electric but i want to do corrosive and fire as well. I could use a little bit op help.

    1. If you look at the first build on this list, you’ll notice that both the Fist of the Elements (orange) and Brawl (green) trees have points in them. That’s so you can use all three elemental damages. You can put five points in one or both of those trees to access the elemental damage you might want. Once you do that, you can equip it instead of the electric one!

  5. Your first build doesn’t make sense. You say you went deep into each tree so you can swap elements as needed, but in the picture you didn’t even get the 2 skills that allow you to do that (the 2 diamond shapes ones on the right for the orange and green tree).

    1. You don’t put skill points into those side abilities and augments. Once the tree has enough points in it they are unlocked and usable whenever you want to equip them.
